Each month, there is a different Port of Call theme. This month, the theme is Lima, Peru.

Lima is a longstanding, historic city rich in culture and attractions for tourists to see. Founded on January 18, 1535 by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, Lima was given the nickname “The City of Kings” because the discovery date was close to the Epiphany, a popular Christian festival. Today, Lima is home to over 8 million people, and hosts a blend of cultural and architectural influences from the different civilizations over the years.

Each month, the participating affiliated communities will host the monthly Port of Call program. Port of Call is a Life Enrichment program designed to educate the residents with food, games, activities, and fun based on a different country or city.

The Whitestone Care Center Administration team had the opportunity to attend LVHN Pocono Post Acute Care for a collaborative and engaging session with fellow PACC professionals. The meeting fostered dynamic conversations focused on enhancing processes, aligning best practices, and strengthening communication across facilities, all with the shared goal of supporting optimal post-acute outcomes for our residents.

Key topics included strategies surrounding readmissions, managing length of stay, home health partnerships, and CHF pathway initiatives with valuable insights exchanged to help drive continuous improvement in care delivery. We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with such dedicated professionals and look forward to implementing these shared learnings to better serve our community.

We are proud to celebrate an incredible milestone for Savi, our dedicated Life Enrichment Director at Whitestone Care Center.

For nearly two years, Savi had brought passion, creativity, and heart to our community. She is consistently enriching the lives of our residents in meaningful ways. She recently earned her Activity Director Certified (ADC) credential, adding to her already impressive accomplishments, including her ADP certification.

Savi holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, as well as a Master's degree in Psychology with a minor in Education from Walden University. She is always eager to explore new and engaging leisure opportunities, carefully crafting activity calendars that support each resident in achieving their highest level of psychosocial well-being.

Savi also works closely with our Nursing Home Administrator and leadership team to continuously innovate and expand programming ensuring it reflects and celebrates the diverse, multicultural backgrounds of those we serve.
