Yesterday, our Whitestone community had the joy of celebrating Holi, the beautiful Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil! Rooted in traditions from India and celebrated around the world, Holi is often called the "Festival of Colors." It is a time for forgiveness, renewal, laughter, and coming together in unity. The vibrant colors symbolize joy, love, and the bright spirit of a new season!

As we welcomed the beginning of spring here in Whitestone, we were reminded of how meaningful it is to learn about and honor the diverse traditions that make our community so special. Thank you to Savi for sharing your culture, stories and traditions with us!!

Social Workers are often the connection between families, residents, and staff at nursing homes and rehabilitation communities. They are always there to provide resources, give the residents they work with a friendly ear, and advocate each day for resident rights.

We interviewed two social workers to learn more about social work and what the daily life in their field looks like. In honor of Mardi Gras this February, Sherrod, a cook at Whitestone, treated our staff to his family's famous gumbo, and it was nothing short of amazing. Sherrod recently joined our team and is originally from Miami with deep Southern roots.

The incredible pots of gumbo were packed with rich flavor, tradition, and heart. Sherrod has spent years working in five-star restaurants, learning his craft from some of the best chefs, and it truly shows.

The roux alone takes about an hour to make continuously stirring. You could taste the pride, dedication and passion behind every spoonful. Thank you, Sherrod, for sharing your heritage, talent, and kindness with all of us. It was fantastic!
