Intrusive thoughts in motherhood can feel deeply frightening.
Many mothers quietly wonder:
Why would I think something like that?
Does this mean something is wrong with me?
What if I lose control?
These experiences can feel isolating, and many women begin to believe something must be wrong with them.
In reality, intrusive thoughts are far more common during the transition into motherhood than most mothers realize.
The maternal brain becomes highly alert to potential danger as part of its natural protective system. Sometimes that system becomes overactive, leading to thoughts that feel distressing—even though they do not reflect your intentions, values, or character.
Understanding why these thoughts happen can bring enormous relief.
In this 90-minute virtual workshop, we will explore:
• why intrusive thoughts occur in motherhood
• how the maternal brain responds to perceived danger
• how anxiety can reinforce intrusive thoughts
• practical strategies to calm the nervous system
• compassionate ways to respond when these thoughts appear
