May is Mental Health Awareness Month. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 6 youths age 6-17 experience mental health issues yearly. Of those impacted, only half receive professional help. Untreated mental health concerns are linked to poor physical health, substance use, academic concerns, unemployment and legal issues. Making a decision can bring on feelings of overwhelming stress. A good trick to minimize the anxious thoughts surrounding decisions making is to think about what you absolutely can’t live without. For example, I can’t live without a good night’s sleep so saying “no” to a late night dinner is an easy choice for me. What can you not live without? ✨
