Treasure Coast Hospice is proud to celebrate our incredible Veteran Volunteers. Their compassion, service, and shared camaraderie bring comfort, dignity, and connection to the veteran patients we care for. This month, we have been spotlighting several of our dedicated volunteers and the meaningful impact they make every day.
Today, we proudly recognize Carl Holeva, whose career with the U.S. Navy spans 22 1/2 years of service as a Commander, 8 1/2 years active duty and another 14 years in the reserves. Carl served as a naval helicopter pilot, flying search and rescue missions during Vietnam as well as combat support missions. His distinguished military career took him from bases in the Mediterranean to Michigan and Florida.
For the past six years, Carl has generously given his time and compassion to support veteran patients in our care, volunteering with Treasure Coast Hospice as a way to give back to fellow veterans.
As a Veteran Volunteer, Carl has had many memorable experiences visiting patients. One that stands out is a visit with a veteran whose wife was so moved by the Honors Ceremony and recognition bestowed on her husband that she was brought to tears.
Thank you, Carl, for your service to our country and to veterans in our community.
