Volunteers in Medicine Clinic

Volunteers in Medicine Clinic VIM Clinic provides free medical care to uninsured, low-income adult residents of Martin County. VIM Clinic has been serving Martin County since 1995.

Our services include primary and specialty care and thanks to support from Cleveland Clinic Martin Health, Diagnostic Imaging Services and other community partners, we are also able to provide diagnostics, surgeries, and cancer treatments. All services are at no cost to the patients and VIM also works to secure free or low-cost medications for patients. VIM Clinic sees thousands of patients each year. Our patients are the fabric of our community like front line workers, gig workers, and the self-employed. Most of our patients work full or part time but do not have employer health coverage or cannot afford the premiums for private coverage. Celebrating National Nurse Practitioner Week (November 9-15th) is celebrated annually in recognition of nurse practitioners (NPs) nationwide, building awareness of their vital role in patient care.

Alan Eddison, DNP, APRN - Clinical Director at VIM Clinic shares with us:
"Being a Nurse Practitioner has allowed me to do the most satisfying work of my life. Caring for, and helping people has been my lifelong passion. The role of Nurse Practitioner gives me the opportunity to care for people at the highest level.

Volunteers in Medicine provide me with what I consider to be the perfect environment to care for some of the people who need help the most. I hope to continue my work in Primary Care for the rest of my life, much the same way that my mentor Dr. Howard Voss continued to care for people for as long as he lived."

Last night, we celebrated our 77 incredible in-house volunteers!
Together, they’ve contributed more than 5,300 hours so far this year — hours filled with compassion, dedication, and heart.

We are deeply grateful for each and every one of you. 💙
