Photomicrograph of a hair follicle from a middle aged
Ragdoll feline with a history of hair loss (alopecia), itchiness (pruritic), and no response to
antimicrobial treatment. This is a classic ringworm infection or dermatophytosis with
abundant fungal organisms colonizing the hair shaft and with a mild inflammatory
response. The fungi are 1-2 um round, deep basophilic arthrospores that surround the hair shaft (arrow) and 1-3 um diameter (wavy appearing), parallel walled fungal hyphae that fill the hair shaft.

We will be at this year with prints. This is a microscopic photo of a hatchet fish scale via wet mount (no stain). Hoping for a bright and colorful new year for all 🐠.
