Before kids can calm themselves, they often need an adult to help them feel safe, seen, and supported — that’s co-regulation.

Over time, with consistent modeling and practice, children build the tools for self-regulation — calming their bodies and emotions independently.

Parents and caregivers play a huge role in this process!
Every time you stay calm, comfort, and guide your child through tough moments, you’re helping their brain learn how to do it on its own.
