Is that induction medically necessary, or are people just pushing it because it’s a holiday weekend coming up?
It's here! The Christmas season is upon us. 🎄❄️ A time of gatherings, joy, friends, family, food and more food, and also a season of labor inductions.
Around the holidays in the United States, the number of inductions of labor soar - undoubtedly not due to necessity, but quite often because of pressure from a provider or what is convenient for them and their schedule.
TRUTH: Babies do not know it’s Yule. Or Christmas. Or any celebratory event.
Get the facts so that you can make informed decisions about your body and your baby. Letting labor begin on its own is usually safest for pregnant people and babies. You should not feel pressured to induce without medical necessity.

Dignity and respect throughout your pregnancy, labor, and childbirth should be the expectation - not the exception.

Did you know that Failure to Progress is an outdated term that refers to slow labor? Unfortunately, it's still the most common reason for an unplanned Cesarean today.

Blessed Beginnings

Welcome! I’m Laura, a trained doula currently pursuing further certification through Childbirth International. My journey to becoming a doula and passionate advocate for mothers everywhere began with the birth of my first son 4 years ago. It was a beautiful water birth in a freestanding birth center -though not without its struggles. It truly opened up my eyes to how empowering the birth experience can and should be, regardless of circumstance or personal choices. I decided I wanted to help other women achieve the birth experience they desired through supporting them any way possible. So, I attended and completed an amazing doula workshop led by a fabulous midwife. In the meantime, I was raising my own baby. Soon, another little boy joined our family (this time through a joyful home birth), which also helped to fuel my passion to serve other mothers even more. Now I am ready to pursue this calling to serve the women of the Black Hills area! I researched further doula education to gain even more tools for professional growth in this role, and that led me to the Childbirth International doula certification program that I am in the process of completing.

I believe knowledge is one of the most empowering tools of all, and every woman deserves to be well-informed in making the decisions that are right for her. Likewise, every woman deserves to feel that she and her birth choices were respected, regardless of varying outcomes. My goal is to provide whatever support necessary to accomplish that!

If you are looking for a calm hand of support throughout your pregnancy and birth, please feel free to contact me with any questions about my services, about the role of a doula, or to set up a free consultation!
