Dr. Rivera is everywhere!
Knowledge, mentorship, and lifelong impact took center stage at the 25th Annual Healing Oasis Wellness Center Conference.
Held in late 2025, the milestone conference honored two legendary Purdue Veterinary Medicine educators, Dr. Kathy Salisbury and Dr. Ron Hullinger, recognizing decades of dedication to teaching, mentorship, and advancing veterinary education. The event was led by Purdue alumnus Dr. Pedro Rivera, who dedicated the anniversary conference to mentors who shaped both his professional journey and the lives of countless others.
Dr. Salisbury retired in 2025 after more than 40 years at Purdue Veterinary Medicine, serving as a board-certified surgeon, educator, and associate dean for academic affairs. Her career spanned clinical excellence, leadership, and an enduring commitment to teaching, earning her recognition as a Purdue 150th Anniversary Professor for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Hullinger completed nearly 50 years of service to the college before retiring in 2018. As a professor of veterinary anatomy and former director of Veterinary Medical Education, his influence reached generations of students. It was estimated at the time of his retirement that he had impacted nearly 90 percent of Purdue Veterinary Medicine graduates.
The conference also highlighted Purdueās ongoing contributions to continuing education, featuring presentations from Dr. Jessica Linder, clinical assistant professor of neurology, and Rachel Yoquelet, veterinary technician in Physical Rehabilitation. Together with Dr. Rivera, they joined more than a dozen speakers sharing knowledge across rehabilitation, neurology, and integrative veterinary care.
This celebration reflected the enduring legacy of Purdue Veterinary Medicine faculty whose mentorship continues to shape the profession, long after the classroom.
