Want to visit the Virginia Zoo in a less overwhelming environment? 🙉

Join us on Sunday, March 29 from 9:30am - 12:30pm for Sensory Friendly Morning, a time when guests of all abilities and needs, along with their families, can enjoy a calmer trip to the Zoo.🩵 This event will include stress-free activities for your Zoo visit, such as adapted programs, activity carts, and more with a reduced number of visitors. This event is specifically designed for those with sensory needs in mind. We ask that those without needs for these accommodations visit the Zoo when the event has ended at 12:30pm.

Autistic Women Support Group (Ages 18+) Registration required
This support group is a safe, welcoming space for women ages 18 and older on the autism spectrum to connect, share experiences, and support one another. The group recognizes that autism can present differently in women and that many face unique challenges related to identity, relationships, mental health, work, and daily life.
Our goal is to foster understanding, self-acceptance, and empowerment through open discussion, peer support, and shared resources. Participants are encouraged to engage at their own comfort level in a respectful, judgment-free environment.
This group is open to autistic women ages 18+, including those who are self-diagnosed or exploring a diagnosis.

The Autism Society Tidewater Virginia believes that improving the vaccination experience is a critical step towards achieving more equitable healthcare for people with Autism and all neurodiverse individuals. With support from the CDC and the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, our national organization, the Autism Society of America, launched the Vaccine Education Initiative (VEI) to address systemic barriers to care and promote vaccine education, confidence, and access. In 2023, the Autism Society of America became a proud partner of the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative (ADVC), to increase access and uptake of vaccines with a focus on aging, BIPOC, Hispanic, LGBTQIA+, and rural populations with Autism and other disabilities. The Autism Society of America and its affiliates including the Autism Society Tidewater Virginia is dedicated to Health Equity. Through the VEI, we are working to address systemic barriers to care and promote vaccine education, confidence, and access.

Our affiliate, Autism Society Tidewater Virginia, is hosting an Accessible Vaccine Clinic with Sentara Health and most insurances are accepted please bring your information with you! The event will be February 1st from 10:00 to 2:00 PM at the FACT Autism Resource Center located at 3509 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA. This event is open to the entire local community!
