Due to the incoming weather systems, our offices will close at noon on Wednesday, February 19. Due to the anticipation of dangerous icy road conditions, for your safety we have delayed the opening for 1/23/25, Urology of Virginia, Virginia Beach and Harbour View locations will implement a 2-hour delay (for Thursday, 1/23/25).
Phones will go live at 10:00 AM, with patient appointments starting at 10:30 AM. If your appointment is between 8 and 10am, your appointment will be converted to telemedicine by our staff.

Please welcome, Dr. Samay Sappal to Urology of VA! Dr. Sappal was born and raised in Virginia and is excited to join us in serving patients in his own community.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors College’s Guaranteed Medicine Program at Virginia Commonwealth University. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he graduated in the top quartile of his class. He went on to complete his residency in urology at Penn State Health in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
He is trained in the evaluation and treatment of all benign and malignant diseases of the prostate, bladder, and kidneys. Dr. Sappal’s clinical interests include medical and surgical management of stone disease, multi-modal treatment of enlarged prostates, comprehensive care for urinating dysfunction, and performing stress-free vasectomies. In particular, Dr. Sappal offers Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) – a procedure for benign enlargement of the prostate particularly suited for treating men with very large prostates or complete inability to urinate.
Dr. Sappal’s philosophy is to provide high-level urologic care with compassion and his patients’ well-being always at the forefront. He is passionate about practicing humanistic medicine and forming meaningful relationships with his patients. It is with great pleasure that he serves the Hampton Roads community. He is also fluent in Spanish and Hindi.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling the world, sipping a craft beer, cheering on his Washington Commanders, and spending time with his wife and family.
He will be practicing in our Harbourview office and the area hospitals.

Urology of Virginia is pleased to share that Dr. Akinwunmi Ojo-Carons has been awarded the InterStim Center of Excellence designation by Medtronic. This designation recognizes Dr. Ojo’s high degree of experience with InterStim Therapy and commitment to delivering effective, long-lasting therapy to men and women suffering from over active bladder, non-obstructive retention, and f***l incontinence.

Only a select number of physicians have achieved this milestone required to be a InterStim Center of Excellence.

We are presenting Urology Updates 2022 live this year for Physicians, APPs and RN's. As this year marks our centennial anniversary we will be hosting a Centennial Cocktail hour to start the conference and add to our centennial festivities.

This course is designed to address current guidelines for a number of common urologic conditions as well as review evaluation and treatment options for common urologic disorders managed by primary care physicians.
