Sometimes life slows you down and sends you in a different direction.

This message could not have been more clear than it was when I came across this spot on the road on my first day seeing Three Rivers clients in Maryland. It felt so good to be back to sitting with mothers (and introducing myself to their tiny babies). It’s such a treat to be able to explore the area (today was Montgomery County) with such a special calling.

🎉🥳BREAKING NEWS!!!!! 🥳🎉

After a few steps down the wrong path, a lot of soul searching and contemplation, and a few months of sleep, I have decided that:

I AM RE-LAUNCHING MY PRACTICE IN MARYLAND!!!

To those of you who said “I’m not worried” or “we know you’ll be back soon” …. You were right! This work is a calling that cannot be denied. It’s who I am, it’s what I do, so here we go!

Starting IMMEDIATELY, I will be accepting clients within about an hour radius of Frederick MD (including northern VA) for prenatal care and home birth - ALL DUE DATES OPEN!!

Beloved Virginia clients: let people know what this is all about!! It’s hard being the new kid in town, and it’s hard to trust a new person! (PS: I know at least a few of you want to come to Maryland and have another baby with me!!! 😂)

Hello to all previous Three Rivers clients! This email is just to remind you that the practice in Virginia has PERMENANTLY CLOSED. We are no longer providing any clinical care or services to any clients. As time goes on and administrative operations wrap up, communication channels (website, phone, etc) will be terminated. For any future communication needs or records requests, please email threeriversmidifery@gmail.com. The email inbox will remain open and be checked periodically. I will not be able to handle any ongoing clinical requests (such as prescription refills or therapy orders), but will be able to provide records of previous care provided if needed. If you haven't already, I highly recommend that you establish care with a midwife who provides well person/gyn services and/or a primary care provider to fill those needs moving forward.

Once again, thank you to each and every one of you. I already miss the community deeply.

Three Rivers Midwifery has made its way safely to Maryland. Many of you will recognize a lot of these items from the office and births. For now they will remain in my basement until called to duty again.

That’s a wrap on the birth center. Becca (one of our amazing RNs) is cleaning the birth suite for the last time. (Reminiscing on giving birth here herself just under a year ago!)
We have 9 more home births planned and then we will be completely done in Virginia.

Hello, beloved Three Rivers Families! I am writing to all current and previous clients with some news that is hard to share, but I can't delay any longer.

I wanted to let you all know that I will be moving out of state and closing the practice next summer.

Serving this community has been an absolute joy and honor and it really feels surreal to be making plans to leave (I keep asking myself - can I really do it????). I will be moving to Maryland to be closer to my mother, who is declining with dementia. I will be continuing to serve repeat clients with due dates through the middle of August (if you're out there pregnant and haven't told me yet, now's the time!).

Dani and I will continue to do births together through August. She plans to stay in the area and serve the community and is working on getting her own practice up and running so she can start taking clients under her own practice umbrella when I am gone. While she won't be able to take insurance and offer all of the same services that I have (because she is a CPM so there are some differences in reimbursement potential and scope of practice), she is a wonderfully skilled midwife with the same philosophies on pregnancy and birth and will be a wonderful asset to the community.

I will also continue to offer well woman and gyn care until I leave, so if you have been procrastinating on that PAP, IUD, or uncomfortable itch, now's the time to get an appointment!

The good news is that August it still a long way off, so there’s still time to catch up and enjoy my last months in this wonderful community.

October 15 is Infant and Pregnancy Loss Remembrance Day. Today we remember the 1 in 4 pregnancies that end in grief, we remember the families, and we remember the babies. We see you. We are with you. ❤️🕯️

SO excited to welcome Dani Wright as the newest midwife to the practice. Dani has been working with me as a birth assistant for over a year and recently passed her midwifery boards. She is such a lovely human and I know you will love her has much as I do!
Please help me welcome her to this new, expanded role in the practice and congratulate her in the HUGE task of becoming a certified professional midwife!
