(Volume on for video) Life happens. Some days you feel strong, some days you don’t. Some days you feel defeated, some days you don’t. Some days you feel happy, some days you don’t. Your yoga journey is no different, and it doesn’t make you any less “good” at yoga. How are you BEING on those days that don’t meet your expectations? Can you feel compassion and love towards yourself? A deep sense of appreciation for what you CAN do?
In the discomfort of uncertainty, can you find peace? Acceptance (not to be confused with giving up)? Let go of your attachment to the outcome?
Quote by Dorothy Hunt: “Peace is this moment without thinking that it should be some other way, that you should feel some other thing, that your life should unfold according to your plans. Peace is this moment without judgement. This moment in the heart-space where everything that is, is welcome”
(Written in September): Currently I’m 2.5 months post-hip surgery and can promise you that I would be a whole lot worse off mentally and emotionally if it weren’t for yoga. This practice has been my constant through grief, pregnancies, postpartums, change, etc. The highs and the lows in life, and everything in between. I still have moments of frustration and moments where the ego creeps in and I find myself comparing myself to where I was, and to others. I’m human, afterall. But what yoga opens up for me is space and compassion. I don’t linger in that place of comparison and judgment for as long. And this is why I practice right now, to be in this challenging season of recovery with just a little bit more compassion and peace. September 2025
