I haven’t put much of my personal life on my business social media page, but I decided I have a story to tell
A couple of days ago, my wife and I welcomed our second son Carson Elijah. The pregnancy wasn’t necessarily a breeze but there were a few challenges. With several trips to labor and delivery, a two-night inpatient stay, an unexpected transfer of care within the third trimester that I believe was uncalled for, and having to move at 35 weeks, I would more than likely been terminated if I worked for an employer. Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to be by my wife side and deal with all the craziness we dealt with the last 37 weeks.
Believe it or not, this experience made me a better business owner. I had to really evaluate why I haven’t reached all my goals for my company. I have had many failures, but I can say at the end of the day, I am successful. I noticed that several of my clients wanted to treat me like an employee and not an extension of the management team. I have learned to not take every single client just for the money. I have learned to set professional boundaries and respect my own expectations. For me, this means, I am choosing not to work with thoae who become toxic and those who can not respect professional boundaries. I will no longer compromise my pricing, policies and procedures for the benefit of others. I have invested in business with vendors who will help me with growing my business and set me up for success.
