What will this course do for you?
With this course, you will be able to:
οΆ Screen and Assess mental health disorders: As a mental health and abuse counselor, you will be able to assess, diagnose, and treat people struggling with mental health issues, including depression, stress, anxiety bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia among others.
οΆ Prepare to work in diverse environments: As a mental health professional, you will be able to work in diverse backgrounds, including working for in-patients, outpatients, residential, and community settings. They do this by collaborating with psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental professionals to provide therapeutic care at hospitals, nursing homes, schools, substance abuse treatment centers, community agencies, and government and private organizations. You can also pursue a career in private practice.
οΆ Certification: Taking all the six modules will earn you a certification as a certified mental health and addiction counselor. You will acquire skills in understanding addiction and substance disorder, functions of counseling, counseling, group therapy in addiction treatment, substance abuse treatment, addiction and family, and building social support recovery among other skills.
οΆ Nurture your counseling passion: This course will ignite your mental health and addiction counseling passion. This means that you will be building your passion for helping others, which is a fulfilling career when you love to help the needy in society. Mental health counselors recognize that, with support, those struggling with mental health and addictions are capable of living not just healthy lives but also become productive members of society.
This course is divided into six modules, running from January to April,2021. After the course, students will be competent enough to help various demographics, such as children, young adults, college students, or the elderly among others. They can also choose to focus on any of these demographics.
