What’s your favorite therapist reading?
Jenny Liu: As a former medical professional and current counselor, I am exploring the world of healing childhood trauma from the eyes of a pediatrician. May this book offer the insight to instill hope and knowledge in caring for those afflicted by adverse childhood experiences.
Cassidy Macygin: This book has been such an eye-opening resource and has made healing feel more possible. I’ve loved learning more about how Complex PTSD can show up in everyday life, along with practical skills for calming and regulating the nervous system.
Sabita Singh Kamnani: I really enjoyed reading Educated by Tara Westover because it is such a powerful story about personal growth and resilience. It follows her journey of breaking away from a difficult upbringing to find her own voice through education, making it a truly inspiring read for anyone interested in the strength of the human spirit.
Amanda Trost: m rereading the ACA Big Red Book -20 years later. I’ve done the steps, but in a way that was more like just going through the motions. I wasn’t able to take it all.
in yet. I’m absorbing much more now, and as a therapist, I keep noticing how this book/program pulls from so many different therapy concepts and explains complex trauma and dysfunctional family systems in a clear, practical way.
Jared Trost: I’m revisiting Pete Walker’s work by reading his new book “Holistically Treating Complex PTSD” and continuing to deepen my work with complex trauma. Staying connected to what truly supports healing and refining how I show up for clients is an important part of my work.
