“I’m eating the same… working out the same… but gaining weight.” 🤯

Welcome to perimenopause/menopause

During the menopause transition, it’s not just estrogen that changes — testosterone declines too.

And that matters. A lot.

Hormone shifts affect:

▫️ Muscle mass (loss accelerates)
▫️ Resting metabolic rate
▫️ Insulin sensitivity
▫️ Fat distribution (more central/abdominal fat)
▫️ Motivation, energy & drive to train

Testosterone plays a key role in maintaining lean muscle — and muscle is your metabolic engine.
Less muscle = lower daily calorie burn.

On average, calorie needs drop ~300 calories/day (sometimes more).
So yes — you can gain weight doing “nothing different.”

What actually helps:

✔️ 25–30g protein per meal
✔️ Progressive strength training (non-negotiable)
✔️ Prioritize sleep (underrated but critical)
✔️ Reduce processed carbs
✔️ Evaluate hormones — estrogen and testosterone
✔️ When appropriate: medically supervised weight loss + body composition monitoring

This isn’t a willpower issue.
It’s a hormone + muscle issue.

And the goal isn’t just weight loss.
It’s preserving strength, metabolism, bone, and long-term health.

You are not broken. Your physiology just changed. 💛

Bone. Muscle. Strength. Longevity.💪🦴

During the menopause transition, estrogen declines rapidly — and that shift directly affects your bones and muscle mass.

What many women don’t realize:

🦴 Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the 5–7 years surrounding menopause.
🦴 1 in 2 women over 50 will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture.
🦴 Hip fractures carry significant long-term health risks, including loss of independence.
💪 Muscle mass declines too — accelerating metabolic slowdown, balance issues, and fall risk.

This isn’t just about aging.
It’s about hormonal change.

The good news? These changes are measurable and modifiable.

✔️ DEXA scans assess bone density
✔️ Strength training preserves muscle
✔️ Adequate protein intake matters
✔️ Strength training helps
✔️ Hormone therapy may help protect bone when appropriate

Menopause is a turning point — but it doesn’t have to mean frailty.

Strong bones. Strong muscles. Strong future.

If you’re in perimenopause or menopause, it’s time to be proactive.

Heart. Brain. ❤️🧠
You can’t live without them.

Yet these are the two biggest threats to women as we age.

💔 Heart disease is the #1 killer of women.
🧠 Nearly 2 out of 3 people with Alzheimer’s are women.

What many women don’t realize is that risk for both begins shifting during the menopause transition.

As estrogen declines:
• LDL cholesterol often rises
• Blood vessels stiffen
• Visceral fat increases
• Insulin resistance worsens
• Inflammation increases
• Brain glucose metabolism changes

Estrogen plays a role in supporting blood flow, mitochondrial function, and how the brain uses glucose for energy. When levels drop, the brain becomes more vulnerable — sometimes decades before symptoms ever appear.

Menopause isn’t just about hot flashes.
It’s a critical window for protecting your heart and your brain.

This is why we focus on:
✔️ Cardiometabolic health
✔️ Cognitive protection
✔️ Strength training
✔️ Sleep
✔️ Nutrition
✔️ Hormone therapy when appropriate

The transition is the time to act — not after disease develops.

What is menopause?

Menopause is officially defined as one full year without a period.

It happens because the ovaries — the only organ in the body that rapidly ages and then completely stops functioning — slow and stop producing estrogen and progesterone.

That shift affects your entire body.

🔥 What you feel: hot flashes, sleep issues, brain fog, mood changes.
⚠️ What you may not feel: bone loss, rising cardiovascular risk, metabolic changes.

Menopause is biologic. Predictable. And treatable.

You deserve real answers — not dismissal.

🦠 What is Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)?

BV happens when the normal “good bacteria” in the va**na get out of balance — allowing other bacteria to overgrow.

⚠️ Common signs & symptoms:
• Thin gray or white discharge
• Strong “fishy” odor (especially after s*x)
• Vaginal itching or burning
• Sometimes NO symptoms at all

📌 Important to know:
BV is NOT a true infection — it’s an imbalance.
👉 That’s why antibiotics only work about 50–60% of the time and recurrence is common.

🚫 It’s not an STI, BUT:
✔️ Treating your partner
✔️ Using condoms
Both may help prevent it from coming back

🦠 Probiotics can help (and sometimes work better than antibiotics!)
Look for:
✨ Lactobacillus rhamnosus
✨ Lactobacillus reuteri

These help restore healthy va**nal bacteria and improve treatment success.

❌ Never do**he — it disrupts your natural balance and makes BV more likely to return

💬 Recurrent BV? We can help get to the root cause — not just keep prescribing antibiotics.

✨ What is a hormone-releasing IUD — and is it right for you? ✨

A hormone IUD is a small device placed in the uterus that releases progesterone to:
✔️ Prevent pregnancy (FDA-approved up to 8 years)
✔️ Lessen heavy or painful periods (FDA-approved 5 years for bleeding control)

🌸 Great option if you:
• Need reliable birth control but can’t tolerate pills
• Want low-maintenance, long-term protection
• Have certain health conditions that limit oral contraception
• Struggle with heavy periods
• Are at higher risk for uterine cancer (obesity, family history, irregular cycles)

Safe. Effective. Personalized care — from your hormone specialists.
