As a nurse, this speaks the truth. Compassion and commitment. ❤️🩹😇
Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse
The badge may fade,
the uniform may change,
the shifts may end—
but the heart of a nurse never clocks out.
Once you have held trembling hands,
once you have whispered comfort into breaking souls,
once you have fought beside life at its most fragile—
you are forever marked.
It is not a job.
It is not a season.
It is a calling etched into marrow,
a rhythm in the blood,
a fire that time cannot quench.
Years may pass,
hair may grey,
but the instinct remains:
to rise when others sit,
to comfort when others turn away,
to see dignity where the world sees despair.
Once you have bent low to lift another, you can never stand indifferent again.
Once a nurse,
always a nurse.
Not because of the cap,
not because of the scrubs,
but because compassion is now your language,
and service is your crown.
Nursing is not what you did.
Nursing is who you became.
And that never leaves.
