Board-certified in his field, he earned his medical degree and completed his residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), a renowned institution known for its excellence in medical education.

With over 17 years of experience practicing in Summerville, SC, Dr. Katz has developed a deep understanding of the unique health needs of the local community. He is particularly passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain optimal health through a holistic approach that addresses both physical and mental well-being. His areas of special interest include weight management, chronic disease prevention, and wellness.

Dr. Katz believes in building strong relationships with his patients and providing personalized care tailored to their individual needs. The office will be closed tomorrow 8/6/24 due to severe weather! ☔️ Staff will be calling all patients in the morning to reschedule. Medication refills and non urgent messages can still be sent through the patient portal. As always call 911 if you are experiencing a medical emergency! Stay safe!!

Everyone 6 months and older should get a vaccine every season. Flu vaccine can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, hospitalizations and has been shown to be life-saving. Remember to call and get your appointment scheduled!

Please welcome our newest Physician Assistant, Brianna Duggar, PA-C!

Brianna Duggar, PA-C is from Summerville, SC. She attended college at Clemson University where she received a B.S. in Health Science. While at Clemson Brianna was a part of the 4x800 team, currently holding a school record, and contributed to 5 school ACC Championships! Brianna then attended and graduated PA school at Charleston Southern University in 2019 becoming part of their inaugural class graduating summa cm laude in the top of her class and part of the national honors society. Brianna is board certified with the NCCPA.

Brianna enjoys working in family medicine and treating patients of all ages! Her love of medicine has lead her on two medical mission trips to Togo, Africa and one to the Dominican Republic. She is hoping to head back to Togo in 2023!

Brianna enjoys spending time with her husband, dog Scooby, family, and friends. They are also expecting their first child, a baby boy, this fall and could not be more excited to add this new blessing to their family! Brianna loves running, reading, attending baseball games, but most of all she’s looking forward to motherhood and serving her community!

First up: Dr. J. Henk Burger

Dr. Burger's passion for Family Medicine started with his clinical training in South Africa, followed by four years in England. In these places, his skill as a clinician was honed while working in internal medicine, ob-gyn, pediatrics, and the emergency room. Family Medicine, with the opportunity for long-term patient relationships, greater understanding of disease, and an investment in the health of your whole family became his passion. Dr. Burger completed further training at the Medical University of South Carolina, and in the low-country found a new place to call home. Board Certified in Family Medicine, he joined Dorchester Medical Associates in 2006, caring for an array of acute to chronic conditions from the very young to the very old. Dr. Burger provides personalized healthcare for you and your family by investing in a long-term relationship built on understanding. This investment in your family allows for better health for all of you; not just treating illness, but preventing disease and optimizing health.
