Mary “M” Ann Smith, 59 of Magnolia, MS passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. She was born Tuesday, November 15, 1966 in Wesson, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Tangipahoa Baptist Church in Summit, MS. Bro. Mike Morris will officiate. Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mary was, quite simply, a beacon of unconditional love and tireless compassion—the woman with, as her family often described, the "biggest heart in the world." Mary’s most defining characteristic was her profound commitment to others. It didn't matter the time of day or the nature of the crisis; if a loved one, a friend, or even an acquaintance was in need, she would "come day or night," no questions asked.
Family was the sun in her universe, and she was loved and deeply loved in return. Nothing brought her more joy than family get-togethers. These gatherings—whether a major holiday feast or a casual Sunday dinner—were characterized by laughter, warmth, and the secure knowledge that they were surrounded by her boundless affection.
She had a special, cherished role as the family's unofficial photographer. She was constantly taking family pictures, meticulously documenting every milestone, funny moment, and quiet embrace.
Beyond her dedication to family, Mary cultivated a rich inner life through her love of stories. She had a lifelong passion for reading. In contrast, she also loved TV series, finding relaxation and enjoyment in following complex plots and characters.
Mary also enjoyed eating out. While she loved cooking for others, when it came to dining at restaurants, she had a meticulous routine, often knowing exactly what she wanted before she arrived and ensuring the experience met her specific, standard for a perfect meal.
Mary’s greatest legacy is not in the material world, but in the immeasurable amount of love and goodness she poured into the lives she touched. She taught everyone around her that the truest measure of a life well-lived is in how much you give of yourself. Her memory will forever be a source of warmth and inspiration, reminding all who knew her to lead with an open heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Griffin; mother, Annie Mae Adcock Griffin; stepfather, Tola A. Bryant.
Survivors include her husband, Rusty Cooper; sons, Cody Lane Cooper (Marlie) and Brandon Cooper (Marisha); sisters, Suzie L Cox, Barbara "Scooter" Tynes (Kevin), Patricia E Rayburn (Chris), Frances R Wilkinson and Amanda D Sanderson; grandchildren, Kylan Cooper, Kash Cooper, Kolt Cooper, Macie Cooper and Maddox Cooper.

Margaret was a woman whose life was a vibrant tapestry woven with deep devotion, tireless service, and boundless artistic passion. She was devoted to the love of her life, Don, for 61 years and to her children. Above all else, everything was about family. She loved being surrounded by her family. If family wasn’t included it wasn’t done. Sunday dinners, baking and decorating Christmas cookies with the grandchildren, or making candy and wreaths with her daughter, all was done with her family in mind.

Her faith was a guiding light, and she was exceptionally active in her church. She shared her spirit and knowledge as a dedicated Sunday school teacher and served as the head of the children’s department. As the librarian at her church, she brought many smiles to children of all ages as she helped them explore their imaginations through books.

Beyond the church walls, Margaret was a central figure in her community. She was a proud member of DAR (Daughters of American Revolution). Displaying a love for the stage, she was also an active member of the Pike County Little Theater. Margaret’s talents with sewing and painting helped to create magic and wonder with the theater. She loved sharing her passion for many things with others.
Margaret being a woman of many talents, she possessed practical skills in sewing and crocheting, and found tranquility in gardening. Margaret shared her love for gardening and flowers with the Summit Gardening Club. However, her truest and greatest love was art.

Channeling her creativity and her heart for children, she developed a unique art form she affectionately called “Painted Creations.” This involved building pieces of children’s furniture into extraordinary, imaginative works of art. Each piece was designed to bring joy and wonder to the world, leaving a lasting legacy of beauty.
