One of our favorite and kindest volunteers, Jan, dropped off a generous donation today from her boxing club, Rock Steady Boxing.

Rock Steady Boxing is a non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness program designed specifically to help people with Parkinson’s disease improve their quality of life, balance, agility, and cognitive function.

Thank you to Jan and her group of fellow boxers for this truly special gift 🧡

✨ Same kid. Same session. VERY different posture. ✨

These two photos were taken about 20 minutes apart during a hippotherapy session with a child with low muscle tone.

📸 Pic 1: Early in the ride — postural muscles are still snoozing 😴 and you can see a noticeable scoliosis curve.

📸 Pic 2: Mid-session — those core muscles have officially clocked in 💪 and the spine is much closer to neutral!

The rhythmic 3-dimensional movement of the horse helps “wake up” postural muscles, encouraging active core engagement and better alignment in the moment. Turns out, muscles listen better when there’s a horse involved 🐴😉

Big effort, small moments, and lots of muscle activation ✨

⚠️ Friendly reminder:
Hippotherapy does not cure scoliosis or any diagnosis. These photos are simply snapshots in time showing one individual’s response during a session. Every body is different!

⭐️ Volunteer Spotlight ⭐️

Meet Wally! Our latest featured volunteer at Sundance. We are so lucky to have Wally - he has touched so many lives at the barn 🧡

“Sundance has become my happy place – a place where I can come and feel inspired and supported. I leave Sundance feeling like I have, in a small way, made the world a better place. Helping the kids during their sessions and watching our relationships grow is so rewarding. Working with the therapists and seeing how they bring out the best in the patients is amazing and inspirational. My advice to new volunteers would be to get ready to give your heart to Sundance; the people who work here, the therapy horses but more importantly, the patients. You will see and feel something special when you take your first step in the arena.” -Wally
