We still have some spots left for our November classes starting THIS Thursday at The Creative Duckling in Suncook (next to Shirley's Kitchen Pembroke and Big Ben's Pizza)!

We meet once a week for 3 weeks to get crafty, creative, and messy. Only $50 per child with a discount for siblings. I would love for some more kiddos to join us.

Bear with me friends, this is a longer post but I hope you enjoy it!

I have a saying here in the studio: "We celebrate the process, not the product." As adults we are so focused on perfection that we sometimes don't slow down to enjoy the moments that get us to final product.

But what happens when we push that expectation on our kiddos?

Picture this: A kiddo sits down at the table to engage in a painting activity. Assorted toys strewn before them. They are so excited that they get to do something they haven't done before. Put toys in paint?!?! What?!?!

They dip the monster truck wheels into the blue paint to start their masterpiece. Quickly they add some green with a koosh ball. Then a little bit of yellow with a dinosaur. It's beautiful. Wonderful little splashes of color all over the canvas. In your eyes it's perfect!

So you stop them and take the canvas away. Excited to proudly display it in their bedroom.

This child didn't have the opportunity to see what happens when they mixed the blue and yellow together. They didn't get to squish their fingers into the paint to feel the cold, wet, slippery texture.
They didn't have the opportunity to try the Lego to see that each side makes a different shape.
They didn't get to be silly and pretend the dino was chasing the monster truck through the forest of green on their canvas.
They didn't see the painting they imaged in their head become realized on the canvas.
And what could have been a 10-15 minutes activity was reduced to 3 because in your eyes it was "perfect".

Now let's say you let them do all the above things. The painting you are going home with will more than likely just be a green blob. But to THEM it's perfect. And they learned and experienced new things during the process.

They saw cause and effect when the blue and yellow mixed to make green.
They engaged in tactile sensory play when they put handprints all over the canvas.
They used their fine motor skills to flip the Lego over to try each side and learned shape recognition between the square side and the circle side.
They used their imagination to make up a story about the dino chasing the monster truck in the forest.
They saw something through, start to finish.

So take that hot mess of a canvas home and still proudly display it knowing that your child thoroughly enjoyed the process (and learned a few things) of making it! And let me clean up the mess!

We have OPEN STUDIO hours this weekend! Come on in before party season is in full swing. This will be the last weekend with Open Studio hours until the end of the month. We have 12 parties over the next 4 weekends. Phew! We will be busy!

BUT we will now be offering late afternoon Open Studio hours once a week to accommodate more families. PLUS don't forget about holidays/no school days.

November is shaping up to be a busy month with 11 birthday parties already on the calendar! Just a few more spots left. We are by far one of easiest and best places in central and southern NH to host your child's special day. EVERYTHING is included. Just show up! Special requests/projects always welcome.

Have you seen November's classes yet?

Both will meet on Thursdays for 1 hours for 3 weeks starting next Thursday, 11/6.

Homeschool Art meets at 10:00am and Craft Club meets at 4:30pm.

Both sessions are geared towards kiddos 6+ years old.

Cost is $50 for all 3 classes and includes a fun treat to bring home on the last day.

We had a great time this morning at our Homeschool Fall Fun Party! Just look at the cute projects the kiddos made.

There are plenty of opportunities to come in next week to create your own plus get full use of everything else in the studio; kinetic sand, paint panels, spray station, dry sensory bin, and more!

No reservations required. Just come on in!

Studio fee with canvas project- $12.00 (Multiple images available like jack-o-lantern, ghost, leaf, witch hat, etc.)
Studio fee with ceramic or lantern project- $17.00 (best for kiddos 6+. Painted with acrylic paint)

REMINDER: We are an EFA approved vendor. Homeschoolers always welcome. No payment upfront. I will invoice you for direct reimbursement from Classwallet.

The autumn season is in full swing! You won't want to miss our Halloween/Fall inspired events happening next week! $20 per kiddo (or adult if you want to create, too!) and includes your project, full use of the studio, and snack/cupcake (depending on the class), and drink.

Friday 10/24 10:00-11:00am: Homeschool Fall Fun Party (all ages)
Friday 10/24 6:30-7:30pm: Wooden Jack-o-lantern painting (ages 6+)
Saturday 10/25 9:00-10:00am: "Resist" Pumpkin Canvas Painting (all ages)
Saturday 10/25 11:00-12:00pm: Ceramic Pumpkin Painting (ages 6+)

Looks like today is going to be one of the last nicer days so we will be CLOSED today to let you guys enjoy this beautiful day! But next week looks rainy so we will have extended Open Studio hours! Hope to see you in the studio.
