“The year begins and closes with rare lunar events, opening January with an intense celestial alignment and closing December with one of the biggest and brightest Full Moons in years.

From the first days of January through to the final nights of December, the Moon highlights moments tied to release, truth, and deliberate choice, creating a year that rewards attention, alignment, and conscious forward movement.

January opens with the Wolf Moon on the 3rd, and this Full Moon is a Supermoon, appearing larger and brighter because it sits near the Moon’s closest point to Earth. This alone gives the start of the year visual intensity, yet the deeper significance comes from timing.

This Wolf Supermoon closes a rare sequence of four consecutive supermoons that began in the final months of 2025. While it is officially the first of three Supermoons appearing in 2026, it also functions as the ending of a longer cycle, giving the year a sense of resolution before it even fully begins.

This moment grows even more powerful because it aligns with Earth’s perihelion on January 2 and 3, the point when Earth reaches its closest distance to the sun. During this brief window, the Earth, moon, and sun sit unusually close in relation to one another. A configuration like this has not occurred since 1912 and will not repeat within our lifetimes.

Astronomically, this alignment creates increased brightness and clarity in the sky. On a personal level, it correlates with heightened awareness, emotional intensity, and a deep inner recognition that certain chapters have already ended internally, even if external circumstances still appear unresolved.

The Wolf Moon has long been associated with instinct, survival awareness, and loyalty to what truly sustains life. Combined with supermoon visibility and perihelion alignment, January delivers a strong message about boundaries, discernment, and personal truth.

Many people will experience this period as a moment when tolerance for misalignment disappears, replaced by clarity about what deserves continued energy and what must be released.

February 1 brings the Snow Moon, a Full Moon traditionally connected with endurance during the most demanding stretch of winter (in the Northern Hemisphere.) This phase emphasizes consolidation, recovery, and strengthening foundations rather than outward expansion.

Decisions made during this period benefit from patience and careful evaluation, as this moon highlights the value of conserving energy for what truly matters later in the year.

March 3 introduces the Worm Moon alongside the only total lunar eclipse of 2026, commonly referred to as a blood moon.

Lunar eclipses correspond with endings that feel decisive and revealing, bringing situations to completion without prolonged negotiation. This eclipse tends to illuminate long standing emotional patterns, unresolved commitments, and internal narratives that no longer align with present awareness. Many will experience this moment as a turning point where clarity arrives suddenly and decisively.

April 1 welcomes the Pink Moon, the first Full Moon of spring (in the Northern Hemisphere) signaling renewal and forward movement. This phase supports rebuilding confidence and allowing momentum to return naturally.

Growth during this period feels organic, supported by improving conditions rather than forceful effort, making it an ideal time to move ahead with plans seeded earlier in the year.

May becomes one of the most distinctive months of 2026, hosting two Full Moons within the same calendar month. The Flower Moon on May 1 highlights visible growth, creativity, and expansion, bringing ideas and efforts into clearer view. Later, on May 31, a rare Blue Moon appears, defined as the second Full Moon in one month.

Blue Moons serve as recalibration points, encouraging reflection on progress made so far and adjustments that support long term direction before moving forward again.

June and July bring micromoons, which appear smaller because the Moon sits farther from Earth. The Strawberry Moon on June 29 and the Buck Moon on July 29 focus attention on consistency, refinement, and maintenance. These phases support strengthening habits, adjusting routines, and reinforcing structures that support sustainability rather than rapid change.

August 28 introduces the Sturgeon Moon alongside a deep partial lunar eclipse that places most of the Moon within Earth’s shadow. This combination highlights maturity, responsibility, and long range thinking. Themes connected to endurance, accountability, and preparation rise to the surface, encouraging alignment between current actions and future outcomes.

September 26 brings the Harvest Moon, traditionally associated with evaluation and results. This phase emphasizes honest assessment of effort versus outcome, offering clear insight into what has been cultivated successfully and what requires change.

October 26 arrives with the Hunter’s Moon, a Full Moon traditionally linked to readiness and clear decision making as the year enters its final stretch. This moon highlights discernment in a very practical way, asking what deserves continued energy and what needs to be left behind before the year closes. It brings awareness to timing, boundaries, and follow through, making it a powerful moment for choosing wisely rather than emotionally.

The Hunter’s Moon supports tying up loose ends, refining plans, and moving forward with sharper awareness of consequences and priorities.

November 24 brings the Beaver Supermoon, one of the brightest Full Moons of the year due to its closeness to Earth. This moon is associated with foresight, preparation, and long range thinking, mirroring the instinct to secure resources before conditions change. It emphasizes responsibility, planning, and self reliance, encouraging actions that protect future stability rather than short term comfort.

The Beaver Supermoon reinforces lessons learned throughout the year, asking whether structures in place are strong enough to support what comes next.

The year closes on December 24 with the Cold Supermoon, the closest Full Moon to Earth since 2019 and the most visually striking lunar event of 2026.

Appearing on Christmas Eve, this Full Moon carries a sense of culmination and clarity, illuminating what has been completed and what stands ready to move forward. Its brightness brings visibility to truths that may have been forming beneath the surface all year.

Ending 2026 with such a powerful event reinforces themes of completion, clarity, and readiness. Taken together, the lunar events of 2026 form a clear arc of endings, reassessment, and deliberate forward movement.

Beginning and ending with rare alignments, the year repeatedly invites release of what has finished its role and supports conscious decisions about what deserves space in the chapters ahead.”
