My Hair Story

Due to alopecia and hormone changes I have very thin hair over most of my scalp except at the nape. I started with some expensive shampoos and and solutions that made my scalp itchy and red.

My hair wearing journey started twenty five years ago when I started wearing hair pieces or toppers. I ordered strictly online guessing what colors and lengths would go with my natural hair. As you can imagine, this process was a guessing game.

I also tried a hair club salon where your natural hair is shaved off at the crown and a human hair “system” is attached using medical grade adhesive. The look was natural but I didn’t like having to go back every 3-4 weeks to have the system removed, washed, reapplied, etc. and the cost was a big deal. Also, you sleep with the hair on so you still had to style it every morning before going out.

Next I went back to an online store that makes custom hair toppers that use clips to attach to your remaining hair. Again, I had to guess at choosing correct color, style, density, base. Then when I got the piece I had to go have it cut in with my natural hair.
