It has been a fun and busy couple of weeks here at Suring!

We kicked things off by celebrating National Pancake Day, with Kenzie baking up delicious pancakes for everyone to enjoy. For National Nap Day, we got creative and hand crafted our own pillows. We also celebrated National Meatball Day and made sure to add a sweet touch with cookies for Charles’ birthday.

The fun didn’t stop there! Residents enjoyed our very own carnival for National Carnival Day, filled with games, laughs, and plenty of smiles.

Today we’re also celebrating by looking back on the Valentine’s Day crafts we made together while getting excited for all the St. Patrick’s Day fun we have planned for next week.

There’s always something to celebrate here!

🏆 These incredible teams brought the creativity, the flavor, and the presentation - and they’re officially moving to the finale!

Please join us in celebrating an incredible honor for one of our very best!

McKenzie Van Haren, Activity Director at Suring Health & Rehabilitation Center, has been named a Spirit Award Honoree in the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Awards! This prestigious national recognition is presented by McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, McKnight’s Senior Living, and McKnight’s Home Care, and celebrates women who are making a powerful impact across the senior living, skilled nursing, and home care industries.

The Spirit Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate extraordinary courage, dedication, perseverance, and heart in caring for others. Anyone who has spent even a few minutes with Kenzie knows she embodies this spirit every single day!

Our Administrator, Kristina, shared it best:

"I couldn't be more proud of Kenzie. She deserves this award and probably every other award offered. She truly is the light of this building. Anyone who spends time here, whether staff, residents, visitors, or volunteers, would agree Kenzie makes a difference every day she is here. Back on Her Feet and Back Home

Brenda was admitted to Suring following surgery and was unable to walk, had limited transfers, and experienced generalized weakness.

Through hard work and dedication in therapy, Brenda made steady progress and was able to discharge home. At the time of discharge, she returned to her prior level of function and now walks independently using her walker.

Brenda’s story highlights how therapy and determination can help people regain strength and independence after surgery.
