Sciatic nerve pain is not always caused by spinal problems, but in some cases may be muscular and could be relieved through the benefits of a therapeutic massage. Muscles in the low back and glutes may become tight and compress on the sciatic nerve which causes pain. It could also be caused by trigger points in these areas which send referred pain down into hips and legs. Releasing trigger points and loosening tight muscles can help relieve symptoms of sciatic nerve pain.

Carpal tunnel symptoms are most commonly a muscular problem. Tight muscles in the neck or rotator cuff can compress on the brachial nerves and cause pain, numbness or tingling down the arm into the wrist and hand. There are also trigger points, which are simply knots, in the muscles that can send referred pain that mimics carpal tunnel syndrome. Loosening these tight muscles and releasing trigger points through massage therapy can help alleviate these symptoms.
