When it comes to physical therapy, pain relief is really just the *first* step. It's like your body's check engine light: something's going on under the hood that triggered it in the first place.

If we just stop there, we haven't actually fixed the root cause of what caused the pain... which means it's more likely to come back and keep preventing you from doing what you love.

Those weeks you keep coming even after the pain is gone - they rebuild your strength, stability, and movement so the problem doesn't return.

Are you ready to get out of pain and feel even better than before? Message us or text/call (508) 861-1010 to get started! We accept most major insurances and have same-day & next-day evaluation spots available across multiple locations in Central MA, so you're not stuck waiting 4 weeks or more. ❌

Knee pain going downstairs? Feeling wobbly on one leg? Your hips might actually be the problem 👀 Sounds crazy, right? Not so much...keep reading!

Curtsy lunges are a powerhouse for building lateral hip strength, which helps prevent knees from caving in, improves balance, and takes pressure off your hips and low back during everyday movement.

Here’s how we might progress them in the clinic:

👉 Shuttle curtsy: reduces balance demand so you can focus on controlled movement and building side-to-side hip strength.

👉 Standing hip abduction: isolates the muscles that keep your pelvis stable (huge for knee and low back support).

👉 Off-step curtsy: increases muscle demand and challenges single-leg control for next-level strength and stability.

Why does lateral hip strength matter? It can help you walk, run, climb stairs, and exercise with better control, in turn reducing injury risk and helping your body move more efficiently.

If you're struggling with hip pain, knee discomfort, or balance: book an evaluation with a licensed Doctor of PT at one of our 5 locations! We have same-day & next-day appointments available at multiple locations across Central MA/MetroWest.

A “breakthrough” in therapy is more about moments of compounding awareness, rather than a finish line.

In this episode of Hooked on Health hosted by Concierge PT owner & CEO Dr. Sean Lordan, DPT, licensed mental health counselor Mark Labb explains that real progress happens when someone recognizes a pattern, understands what’s holding them back, and takes ownership of change.

That idea applies far beyond mental health.

In physical therapy, breakthroughs often look the same:
✔ realizing a movement habit is contributing to pain
✔ noticing progress you didn’t think was possible
✔ building confidence in your body again
✔ taking ownership of your recovery

Whether it’s mindset or movement, growth starts with awareness and small breakthroughs create lasting change.

🎧 Watch the full episode on the Concierge Physical Therapy YouTube channel to learn how mental and physical health progress often follow the same path. Also available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and conciergephysicaltherapy.com/podcast.

If you are dealing with persistent aches, recovering from an injury, or trying to stay strong as you age, vitamin D might come up in conversation. Many people think of it as an “immune vitamin” or something related only to bone health.

Neck getting tight during shoulder exercises? Your upper traps might be taking over 👀

When your shoulders creep up toward your ears, it usually means your upper traps are compensating for muscles that should be doing the work (like your mid/lower traps and rotator cuff). Over time, that can lead to neck tension, shoulder pain, and poor movement mechanics.

Here are some of the cues we use in the clinic to fix it - you can use these on your own in the gym too!

👉 “Lead with your elbow, not your neck.”
Helps shift the work where it belongs and prevents shrugging.

👉 “Keep your shoulders away from your ears.”
Reduces excess upper trap tension and improves shoulder control.

👉 “Put your shoulder blades in your back pocket.”
Encourages proper shoulder blade positioning and stability.

Why it matters: better muscle activation = stronger, more efficient movement and less strain on your neck and shoulders.

At Concierge PT, we coach you through them so your body moves the way it’s supposed to.If your shoulders always feel tight or painful during workouts, come see us. We’ll help you move better!

Physical therapy is one of the safest and most effective ways to manage ankle pain across a wide range of conditions. Through targeted exercise, hands-on care, and education, physical therapy helps restore mobility, strength, and confidence.

Squats show up EVERYWHERE. Sitting down, standing up, picking something off the floor, getting in and out of the car… the list goes on. Good squat mechanics help protect your knees, hips, and back while building strength you actually use in real life!

Here’s how we progressively train it:

👉 Quadruped Rock Backs
Learn the squat pattern without worrying about balance or body weight. Great for building awareness of hip movement and proper mechanics.

👉 Depth Drops
Adds balance, power, and control. Helps train your body to absorb force safely and improve movement confidence.

👉 TRX Single Leg Squats
Levels things up with unilateral strength and stability while still giving support for control and proper form.

This is how we train functional movement at Concierge PT: meeting you where you are and progressing safely toward stronger, more efficient movement.

If squats feel painful, awkward, or just not right, that’s exactly what we’re here for. Come see us and we’ll help you move better for life.

After an injury, kids don’t just lose strength, but also lose trust in their body. Our job isn’t to rush them or treat them like tiny adults, but to create safe, supported wins so movement feels normal again 💚

That’s how our team brings strength, coordination, and confidence back together!

At Concierge PT, we really believe this: movement is medicine. And it doesn’t look the same for everyone.

For some of us, it’s rollerblading. For others, it’s chasing better drives on the golf course. Or, it’s lacing up and going for a run.

That’s the point! Movement doesn’t have to be complicated or “perfect.” It just has to work for you.

Our holistic, total-body approach is built around helping people move in ways they enjoy, because that’s what supports longevity, resilience, and lifelong health.

So here’s your nudge: find a way to move today. Then do it again tomorrow. Your body will thank you.
