Like bamboo, children have a remarkable capacity to grow and bounce back. Chinese Medicine works with that natural resilience rather than against it. For little ones, I primarily use gentle, non-invasive techniques. Acupressure, Tuina, and Shonishin (a Japanese style of non-insertive needle work) are at the heart of a session, and Craniosacral Therapy is often added, as well. Sessions are only about 30 minutes~ we want to keep the time frame kid & wiggle friendly!

A big part of what I love to do is empower parents with pediatric-friendly herbal medicine, flower essences, dietary recommendations and simple home remedies so that the healing continues and builds over time.

We want to welcome our newest followers and introduce ourselves- let’s chat about how we can best serve you!

A little background story:

We’ve practiced in Oregon, New Mexico & Florida and are now so happy to finally be setting true roots in these beautiful North Carolina mountains with our little family of 3!

Dr. Christopher Whyrick has been a Chinese Medicine practitioner & instructor of medicine for several years and works with acupuncture, Tuina, energy modalities, personalized herbal formulas (both Western and Chinese), cupping & overall lifestyle shifts meeting you where you are at and offering specific, unique solutions to your mental, physical & emotional health (it’s all connected 🙂 ) whether you are looking for preventative care or overall comprehensive treatment for current health challenges, Chinese Medicine is a beautiful approach to often hard to identify issues- he is accepting new patients now and works with all ages! 

Meghan Hedley currently focuses on Craniosacral Therapy as an LMBT (NC License #23217) and will also be joining later as a Chinese Medicine Doctor in the next 12 months working namely with women’s comprehensive wellness. Craniosacral is a very gentle way to approach healing and she is now accepting new clients!

We are honored to be here serving this community! Our clinic room is in a building with various other wellness practitioners & artists in Swannanoa, a quick 10-15 minute drive from the center of Asheville and an easy hop off the highway no matter which direction you’re coming from!

We have so much to share about acupuncture needling (along with our last post, including the blooper moment 😂) but here is just a simple demo of what needling one of the more common points looks like, LI 4, “Hegu” a great pain for pain, letting go, & issues of the head and neck!

😂To clarify the scene… we were filming content and wanted to show how NOT scary acupuncture needles are. Right as Dr. Whyrick was about to demonstrate needling, my toddler, who was in the baby carrier on me, started quickly moving his arm toward the needle and I lost words trying to stop the needling! It wouldn’t have hurt 😂 it was simply a natural MOM response.

A little Saturday humor for you all. We love acupuncture, contrary to what I share at the end of this video, and it continues to amaze us in how effective it can be for a myriad of conditions! And also, contrary to my verbal upset here, Dr. Whyrick is a very skilled needler, meeting patients where they are at and providing wonderfully nourishing treatments!
