Christine Hobbs, 79, of Sarah Ann, WV, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on April 18, 2026 at Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan.

She was born on February 19, 1947 in Sarah Ann, WV to the late Annason Evans and Alice Evans.

Christine was a graduate of Logan Senior High School, Class of 1965. Christine worked many jobs throughout her life, but she was most likely your favorite cashier at Walmart, where she retired in 2020 with over twenty years of employment.

She was a devoted parent, grandparent, aunt, and sister and enjoyed spending time with loved ones, fishing, and worshiping the Lord. She was a devoted member of God's Lighthouse Church in Barnabus, WV.

Christine is survived by her son, Patrick (Patty) Callaway of Switzer, WV; grandson Patrick (Sierra) Callaway of Charleston, WV; her siblings, Gearoldine (Darrell) Campbell of Whitman, WV, Dennis (Marcia) Evans of Chapmanville, WV, Greenville Evans, and Sharon Evans both of Sarah Ann, WV; her fur baby, Missy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jackson "Butch" Callaway and Raymond Hobbs; siblings, Arval Evans, Clarence "Happy" Evans, Bernard Evans, and Randall "Joker" Evans; and her niece, Alicia Evans.

The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan for the care and compassion they provided to Christine throughout her time spent there.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Pastor CD Wolford speaking at 8:00 pm.

Roger D. “Fatrock” Gallion, 70, passed away at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Division on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. He was born on November 19, 1955.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Betty Gallion of Holden, WV and a brother, Dana.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; sister, Robin; nieces, Shana and Rebecca; a special nephew, Robbie and his girlfriend, Sydney; daughter, Melissa Gibson and her husband, Donnie; several grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who will all love and miss him.

Rock was a heavy equipment operator for Alpha in Sidney, KY. He loved playing drums with various local bands all around Logan County. He was known for his great personality and easy going way.

In honoring his wishes, he has been cremated and there will be a celebration of life in the summer.

James Homer Keith, 78 of Eubank, KY, departed this life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1947, was the son of the late Noel Keith and Ella B. (Hughes) Keith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Timmy Keith; brother, Charles Keith; and sister, Carmel Johnson.

He was of the Church of God faith and was a retired coal miner.

Those left to love and cherish his memory includes his loving wife, Cheryl Keith; daughters, Tabatha Baker of Eubank, KY, Kim (Randall) Marcum of Switzer, WV, Jamie (Darrell) Browning of Dempsey Branch, WV; brother, Michael (Rosetta) Keith of Eubank, KY; sisters, Charlene Creakman of Chapmanville, WV, and Brenda (Walkie) Denninson of Sutton, WV; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 18th, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor CD Wolford officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV.

A visitation will begin two hours prior to the funeral service starting at 12:00 pm.

Obituary: Eliza Jane Dillard

March 28, 1930 – April 5, 2026

Eliza Jane Dillard, a devoted mother, distinguished educator, and pillar of her community, entered eternal rest on April 5, 2026. A native of Middendorf, South Carolina, located just north of Hartsville, Jane was defined by her unwavering love for God and an infectious, joyful spirit that brought a unique radiance to every room she entered.

A woman of deep and active faith, Jane lived out the Great Commission through her lifelong commitment to her family, her church, and her students. Her excellence in the classroom was recognized early in her career when she was named the 1979 West Virginia Teacher of the Year, a testament to her dedication to shaping young minds. Whether in the classroom or at home, her gift for encouragement and her heart for service left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness and transformation will live on through her children and the countless lives she touched as both a teacher and a friend.

Jane’s memory is cherished by her children: Philemon, Denise and Randolph. She also leaves behind three daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and her surviving siblings: Hattie Mae Campbell, Alberta Brown, Mary Lee Richardson, Martha Lee Johnson, Judith Carol Campbell, and Teresa Louise Johnson, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Percy; her sons, James and John; her brothers, Arnold Lee, Richard James, John Henry, Joseph Beasley, and Thomas Wesley; and her sisters, Ruby Lee Sullivan, Alene Smith, Elmere Campbell, and Annie Mae Clay.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, April 17, 2026, at Monahill Memorial Freewill Baptist Church (44 Laurelwood Lane Logan, WV 25601) with Rev. James Mosley officiating. Interment will follow in Guyan Memorial Gardens in Godby, WV.

A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service starting at 10:00 am.

A repast will be held at 5:00 pm Friday, April 17, 2026, at Chief Logan Lodge (1000 Conference Center Drive Logan, WV 25601.)

Billy James Connolly, Sr. went to be with his Savior, Jesus, on April 3, 2026. At the time of his passing, he was married to Nancy Filinger of Delbarton, WV.

He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran and an active member of the Connolly Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Peggy (Nagy) Connolly; his father, Paul Connolly; his mother; Ottie (Connolly) Bryant; brothers, Leslie Connolly, Paul Monroe Connolly, and Arthur Ulysses Connolly; and a sister, Betty Jean (Connolly) Hackney.

He is survived by his brothers: Ron (Joann) Connolly, Rick (Ida) Connolly, and Rodney (Karen) Connolly; sister, Johnie Mae (Connolly) Eagler; and a sister-in-law, Sharon {Howard} Connolly.

He is survived by his children: Gary (April) Connolly, Joyce (Kerry) Kreider, Paul (Nanette) Connolly, Shirley (Connolly) Adams and Billy (Christina) Connolly; and seventeen-grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Mud Fork Freewill Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Mud Fork Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Elbert Collins, Jr. and Pastor David McCloud officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV with full military rites.

Shelby J. Collins, 80, of Switzer, W.Va., passed away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Born July 4, 1945, in Logan, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William “Trap” Collins and Mae (Fleming) Collins.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers: David Collins, Freddie Collins, William Collins Jr., and Johnny Collins (infant).

Shelby was a wonderful mother who dearly loved her family. She was devoted to those she loved and gave of herself freely, always putting her family’s needs before her own. She was a child of God and found great comfort in reading His word.

Survivors include her son, George E. Schaffer II (Crystal), and her daughter, Kimberly J. Kyle, both of Ohio; two grandchildren, Amber and Vincent Sichini; and two great grandchildren, Lincoln Conner and Natalia Stevens.

She is also survived by her siblings: Larry “Midge” Collins and Ralph Collins, both of Switzer, W.Va.; Chester “Checko” Collins of Barnabus, W.Va.; and Carolyn Sue Green of West Milton, Ohio.

A special thank you is extended to all who helped care for Shelby, and to the compassionate staff of Luminary Hospice for their support during her final days.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am.

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly Dawn Baisden Mendez, 63, of Logan, West Virginia, who departed this life on March 20, 2026.

Kimberly was born on September 2, 1962, in Logan, West Virginia. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was known for her kind heart, strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Brenda Baisden; her brother, Charlie Baisden; her loving husband of 42 years, Richard “Rick” Mendez; and special friend, David McKnight. Kimberly leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory forever.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Jenna’ Ellis (Byrson), and her beloved grandsons, Bryson and Zachary Ellis, all of Chapmanville, West Virginia; her son, Richard Lee Mendez (fiancé, Allison Marie Miller) of Bristol, Virginia; her sister, Stephanie Davis Bevins (Gene) of Logan, West Virginia; niece, Kayla Baisden of Chapmanville, WV; and nephew, Charles "Trey" Baisden III of Chapmanville, WV.

Kimberly was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with those she loved, whether it was going on cruises, relaxing at the beach, or simply walking in the sand and enjoying the peaceful moments. She loved to go to her grandson's sporting and school events. She also had a special love for shopping. Both for herself, and for others—finding joy in giving gifts and making the people she loved feel special.

She will be remembered for her love, her generosity, and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Vanhook officiating.

A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service at 3:00 pm.
