Emma, also know as "Emma Jean" when she would temporarily stray into being a little bit naughty, crossed the rainbow bridge.
The OG MURC and Therapy dog was known for herding and guarding "her" young athletes, going exploring as the desire arose, chasing rabbits she could never catch, and catching skunks she should have avoided... much to all of our chagrin.
At times she could give off vibes of: " I'm going to listen to you and sit/ stray/ come/ paw/ whatever, but not because you told me to, but because I want to."
She loved sunning herself anytime she could, and never let little things like mulch, flowers, and plants get in her way....sometimes to my chagrin.
Ever the loyal companion and consummate guard dog, she always wanted to have me in her sight, except for those times when the call to explore the surrounding neighborhood came upon her, or she felt the aforementioned young athletes in the gym needed a watchful eye.
While always friendly, she wasn't one to sit idly by and be petted by people, and attempts to call her over by those looking to give her attention often went unheeded, yet there were certain people she created a strong bond with that was unmistakable (you know who you are).
Emma was quite unsure about the young pup Reece in the beginning, and perhaps the role of Alpha was part of it, but true to form, Emma could let Reece think she was Alpha most of the time, while reminding her as needed she still wore the big girl pants.
Emma was a trail blazer and will be missed fiercely.
For those who knew her, please feel free to leave memories and thoughts below.
Be good.
