Our monthly peer-led support group for LGBTQ+ youth ages 18 and under will be held next Tuesday, January 13th from 6:30-8:00pm at the CBR farmhouse.

Want to lend a hand in our food pantry or at Edna's Closet, our donation-based thrift shop in downtown Sylva?

Join us at the farmhouse for a volunteer training session at 4pm on Saturday, January 16th! RSVP with the link in our bio.

Even if you have volunteered with us before this is a great opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback, and learn about how else we serve our community.

A special thank you to the Sylva Snoop for sharing our Fall giving campaign, helping us raise almost $800 in donations to support our work! Every $75 gifted funds one hour of cost-free counseling services for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. CBR thanks you all for your continued generosity!

Times are hard. This Giving Tuesday, your donation means more than ever.

A gift to Cornbread & Roses goes directly towards sustaining the vital services we provide: counseling, food pantry, community events, support groups, and more!

What began three years ago as a tiny counseling service and roadside pantry for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Sylva has blossomed into a lively neighborhood hub with five licensed counselors and a high volume, low-barrier food pantry where we distribute thousands of pounds of food to Jackson County residents each week.

CBR is a proudly q***r- and trans-led organization and our work continues to center the importance of addressing the needs of rural q***rs. It's your generosity that allows us to keep our lights on and our door open.

Looking for ways to make a difference in your community? Cornbread & Roses invites Jackson County residents to apply for a position on our board of directors!

Applicants with experience serving on non-profit or other boards will be considered priority candidates. We need people with fundraising, organizing, and clinical social work experience to join our active board.

Members are expected to devote a significant amount of time and labor so please consider your personal capacity when applying.

Join us on Friday November 21st at 7pm for Invoking Folklore: a Q***r Peoples Magical Meet-Up
This month’s workshop will focus of defense Magic and protection magic from North American & Appalachian Folk tradtions.
We will engage in discussion and ritual focused on both folklore and herblore from this time of year. If you would like to bring an item of significance for our Altar space select an item or herb that is protective, something personally symbolic of protection (tailmens or protective charms, etc)

We have an update to share about our pantry hours. We have chosen to extend our Sunday pantry hours to balance our capacity with a need to provide time for our neighbors to shop the pantry. We know change can be challenging, and we want to assure all our neighbors that CBR is still as committed as ever to our mission of Bread for All and ensuring every person who needs access to food can get it.

Now for the details: starting on 11/30, our new open pantry hours will be Sundays from 12-4p. If you’re used to getting food from us on Wednesdays, we’ve got you covered by sharing information on where to get food during the week in Jackson county.
