“Your child was just born.” When Mark and Christine got the call, they rushed to the hospital and met their answered prayer: a child they had long prayed for.

It began as a closed adoption, but Mark and Christine never stopped showing love to the birth parents through every letter they sent. In one note they wrote, “Every day we look at our child and thank God for the wonderful people who made this loving choice.” Years later, a letter arrived. The birth mom wrote, “I accept your invitation. I’d like to meet.”

Their first meeting happened in our SOFA office as two families, once separated, united by grace. What began as a closed adoption became a living picture of redemption, healing, and God’s perfect timing.

When a young woman facing an unexpected pregnancy reached out to Spirit of Faith Adoptions, she found more than an adoption agency. She found people who cared deeply and walked beside her through one of the hardest seasons of her life.

Week after week, she shared her fears and dreams for her baby, finding the courage to make the choice her heart knew was right.

Three days before Valentine’s Day, she gave birth. And on Valentine’s Day, she lovingly placed her child with the adoptive parents she had chosen. “I want my child to always know on Valentine’s Day how much I love her,” she said.

Meet The Director

Spirit of Faith Adoptions was founded by a Christian attorney, Phillip Wurster after he and his wife, Lisa adopted two children from Russia and one from China into their family. During their travels to Russia, they saw first hand how many children had been orphaned and after much prayer, they both felt lead by God to do more. (James 1:27 to care for widows and orphans in their distress and to keep them from being polluted by the World).

Lisa Wurster formed "Friends of Russian Orphans," a non-profit organization that exists to provide for children's needs in Russian orphanages. Friends of Russian Orphans provides material needs as well as educational programs and financial support. Phillip and Lisa have devoted much of their time, energy and hearts to James 1:27, caring for orphans in their distress.
