ProMedica's Sterile Processing Department has announced its 2025 Employee of the Year, and the honor goes to Nickolas Vargas of Flower Hospital — a recognition that celebrates exceptional performance, unwavering reliability and outstanding service across all ProMedica Hospitals. Congratulations, Nickolas!

Nickolas, who has been part of the Flower Hospital team for nearly seven years, was nominated for his remarkable consistency and dedication. His nominator highlighted his perfect attendance in 2025. Alongside his reliability, Nickolas also achieved the highest productivity numbers in the department, completing an impressive 127,718 tasks across case carts, instruments, decontamination, packs, audits, sterilization loads and returns.

His contributions extend far beyond productivity. Nickolas is known for his precision and dependability, consistently completing work without errors and stepping in seamlessly when the Instrument Coordinator is off. He manages the instrument room with professionalism and provides exceptional customer service to the OR team — so much so that OR supervisors have praised his follow-through and collaborative approach.

Every day is a new reason to celebrate, especially when a patient "graduates" from Eidi Family Rehabilitation Center! Patients like Pat are why we do what we do. She writes that she "...felt support from the whole crew, crew worked together, not apart (like other facilities). Excellent therapists, each and every one of them."

It's a pleasure to serve patients like Pat! We hope you'll keep us in mind should you need rehab care. Learn more: https://ow.ly/B6K250Y1R0m
