This is a 52 year old male that has been suffering with scoliosis, back pain and leg pain for 25 - 30 years. He has tried everything and finally wants surgery. These are his films. His surgery is scheduled for April. I will add films as they come in.

This patient had about 3 months of back pain and over the past few weeks started getting a weird feeling from the stomach down. No fevers and no weight loss, but as you can see on the MRI, he had a serious infection that destroyed his bones and caused pinching on his spinal cord. He had a posterior fusion with decompression on his spinal cord. He is doing well now, but will need a front spinal surgery sometime in the near future to fully stabilize his spine.

CT Scan showing multiple fractures.

A 44 year old came to the emergency room two nights ago. Drinking and driving and ran into a highway divider. He was unable to move his legs and hands. The Cat Scan and MRI revealed that he had multiple breaks in his spine and significant spinal cord compression. He was emergently taken to the operating room. The front of his spine was decompressed and a cage placed and then he had the back of spinal cord decompressed and fused. He had two large bony fragments that were pressing on his spine. Hopefully he regains some function.

This is a middle aged patient with years of back pain. I diagnosed him with a congenital scoliosis (failure of segmentation). This means that one of his bones, while in his mother’s stomach, never split into two fully formed bones as it was supposed to. This has been throwing his spine off for his entire life.
