🌟 Dialysis vs. Transplant: What’s the Difference?

When it comes to kidney failure, patients often face two main treatment paths: dialysis or a transplant. Both save lives, but they work very differently:

🔹 Dialysis
☆Process: Filters waste and excess fluid from the blood using a machine.
☆Frequency: Several times a week, hours at a time.
☆Impact: Keeps the body stable but can be time‑intensive and physically draining.

🔹 Transplant
☆Process: A healthy kidney from a donor is surgically placed into the patient.
☆Frequency: One-time surgery, followed by lifelong long medication.
☆Impact: Offers more freedom, energy, improved quality of life and life expectancy, and cost less compared to dialysis.

💡Key takeaway: Dialysis is a bridge that sustains life, while transplant can restore independence and vitality.

👉 Remember: Every patient’s journey is unique. Talk with your healthcare team to decide which option is best for you.
