Deceased: Lillian K. Whelan
Date of Death: January 31, 2026

Lillian K. Whelan died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family at the age of 93.

Lillian was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. She was a graduate of Central High School where she was president of the Alethean Sorority. After high school, Lillian began working at Marine Midland Trust Company until moving to California for a year. Upon returning, Lillian began working at Crouse Irving Hospital until beginning her family. Lillian cherished raising her children with the love of her life, Jimmy. After all her children were in school, Lillian began working in the Sears catalog department and worked there for over 20 years.

Lillian was an active and dedicated communicant of Holy Family Church in Fairmount for many years, serving on the Altar Rosary Society and Holy Family Seniors Group. She also volunteered at the former church gift shop and food pantry. Lillian took pride in being a funeral luncheon team captain, and she worked annually on the Hope Appeal.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband James Whelan, her parents Harold Kuhl and Mary Kuhl Sweet, and her Son-in-law John Anderson.

Lillian is survived by her loving children David (Evelyn) Whelan of Exeter, PA, Susan Whelan, Kathy Anderson, and Nancy Whelan of Camillus, and Dan Whelan of Cicero; Daughter-in-law Marie Whelan of Camillus; grandchildren Jennifer (Brian), Sarah, Samantha, Jace, Zoie, and Payton; great grandchildren Madison and Jameson; Sister-in-law Carol Whelan, and many nieces and nephews. Lillian’s children and grandchildren will remember her for her kindness, warmth, generosity, and unconditional love.

Calling hours will be held at Whelan Bros. and Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Fairmount, NY with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lillian’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Family Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr. Syracuse, NY 13219 and the American Cancer Society, P.O. Charles E. Brennan, 87, a lifelong resident of Stafford Healthcare in Des Moines, WA passed away on January 16, 2026 at that facility. Charles was born and raised in Syracuse, NY and a 1957 graduate of St. Patrick's school. In 1963 he was drafted into the US Army. He took basic training at Ft. Dix NJ and proudly served his country at Ft. Lewis WA. He was discharged in 1965 and remained in the state of Washington until his death.

He is survived by a brother Robert (Susan), and niece Maureen Brennan and her husband Richard Krenzer and several cousins.
It was his wishes to have no services or calling hours.
He will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery. The Cady Funeral Home LLC, Kent, WA is in charge of the funeral arrangements

Deceased: Charlotte Larue Huffman Buchovecky,
Date of Death: January 19, 2026.

Charlotte Larue Huffman Buchovecky, 96, born on July 26, 1929, entered her heavenly home on January 19, 2026. Charlotte was a loving, sweet, supportive and generous mother, grandmother, and friend to many throughout her life. She loved her role as homemaker and was dedicated to her job at K-Mart for 19 years. Charlotte enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, creating yarn crosses, cooking remarkable meals and baking, especially apple pies, for the many relatives and friends who were frequent visitors to her home.

Charlotte was a long standing member of Delaware Street and Fay Road Baptist Churches and Mission Hope Community. She knew Jesus and held Him in her heart. When Charlotte's health began declining, she was blessed to live her last 12 years of her life in the home of her daughter Cindy and her husband Bill Spreter. With support from their son Brent and many others, they provided her with the highest level of loving and nurturing care.

Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Buchovecky and seven siblings.

She is survived by her beloved children, Cindy (Bill) Spreter, Bryan (Laura), Carol and Lisa Buchovecky; sister, Dollie Kelly-age 99; grandchildren Brent Spreter (Becky Brennan), Celeste, Jason, and Chris (Jackie) Buchovecky; great-grandchildren Kayla, Noelle, Grace, Sapphire, Haden, Avery and five more; step-grandchildren JonMichael, Andrea, Stafford; many nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law Rita (Danny) Davis, Rev. Suzi Harriff, her church family and many dear friends who felt like they were immediate family.

We thank Family Care Medical Group, CenterWell, Crouse Hospital and all the health care staff who cared for Charlotte in a loving manner.
The memories, good deeds and her sweet, sweet self will always have a presence with anyone who ever has known her. As Charlotte would say, “You take care.”

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Whelan Bros & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Rd, Syracuse, NY 13209. A service will follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.

Monica Scott 98, of Syracuse passed away on January 14, 2026, She was a devoted servant of God and faithful member of Most Holy Rosary. She was a graduate of of Most Holy Rosary High School, CCBI and retiree of Syracuse School District. Monica belonged to several organizations, Women of Moose Oxford Inn, Loretto Rest. Auxiliary, and the weekly Adoration Society of Most Holy Rosary. She had a fond love of cats. Her friends and family will deeply miss her.

Survived by her niece Kathleen Marsh of Cleveland, Ohio, and nephews Jack of Rockford, Il, James of Oak Hills, Il and Robert of Sebastian, several nieces and nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 27 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Chapel of Most Holy Rosary, 111 Roberts Road, Syracuse, New York. A private burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Marcellus.

Deceased: Thomas E. Vollmer
Date of Death: January 15, 2026

Thomas E. Vollmer 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was the son of Edward and Ann Vollmer. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School, Notre Dame University, and Harvard Law School. Tom was an loyal fan of Notre Dame Football. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. Tom was a practicing attorney for many years in Connecticut. Enjoyed traveling the world for work.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ann (Flannery) Vollmer, a brother Stephen J. Vollmer, and his sister Patricia M. Wilson.
Survived by his siblings Mary Ellen Wilson, Kay Fitch, Jean (Gary) Petrick, Brother in law William Wilson, sister in law Mary Vollmer, several Nieces and Nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 11:30AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 West Genesee Street, Camillus, NY 13031. A hour of visitation will be from 10:30AM to 11:30AM prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt, NY

Deceased: Joyce Lorraine Robin
Date of Death: January 4, 2026,

Joyce Lorraine Robin passed away on January 4, 2026, at the age of 80. She was the only child of Evelyn Eichenauer and Carl John Eichenauer, an electrical engineer and radar specialist at General Electric. She attended Boston University and Syracuse University, where she studied world cultures and child psychology. At SU, she earned her BA in anthropology. In the early 70’s, she attended the Sorbonne in Paris, where she studied French literature. During this period, she posed as a model for several French boutiques, and met her partner, Jean-Claude Robin. For the remaining decades of her life, Joyce devoted her energy to being a loving mother and devoted daughter. She was an avid documentarian, writing short stories about her experiences in France. Her love of pop culture, fairy tales, and mythology were profound influences on her daughter. A devout Catholic, she supported charities, with a strong sense of empathy for those in need. Her large heart and childlike curiosity about life made her personality instantly engaging. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Robin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 16 at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, Ny 13219. Burial will in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.

Deceased: Debra Ann (Orlando) Wolfe
Date of Death: October 10, 2025

With immense love and profound sadness, the family of Debra Ann “Debbie” Wolfe, 68, announces her passing on October 10, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most. Born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1957, in Staten Island, NY, Debbie embodied the spirit of that day—radiating love, warmth, and compassion to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She later moved to Syracuse, NY, in 1980, where she and her husband, Joe, built a life rooted in family, laughter, and memories that will last forever.

In February 2014, Debbie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. True to who she was, she faced
every challenge with remarkable courage, grace, and strength—fighting a long, hard, and inspiring battle. Through it all, she never lost her faith in God. Her trust in His plan and her belief in His presence carried her and those around her through even the hardest moments. Her perseverance became a testament to the love she carried for her family and the unshakable light that defined her spirit.

Debbie was a ray of light to all who crossed her path. She lived for connection, for laughter, and for making every moment count. She dedicated her life to her children and family, and the pride she felt for them was immeasurable—the very heartbeat of who she was. Her love was fierce, her hugs were tight, and her smile could fill an entire room.

She often called her husband, Joe, her “hero,” and those who knew them could see why—their 45-year love story was one of loyalty, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Her favorite sayings—“it’s a memory,” “don’t be bashful,” and “make every day count”—perfectly captured how she lived and how she encouraged others to live as well.

Debbie was predeceased by her beloved parents, Salvatore and Marlene Orlando, and her brother, Wayne Orlando.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Joseph Wolfe; their children Alison Wolfe
(James Boutin), Wayne (Andrea) Wolfe, Lauren (Anthony) Rhee, and Kelli Ann Wolfe; and her
adored grandchildren Brinley, William, Joseph, Lincoln, and Max. She also leaves behind many
cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless lifelong friends who were blessed by her love and loyalty.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 4:00–7:00 PM at St. Charles Church, 501 South Orchard, Syracuse. A Catholic Mass and Burial will follow at 10AM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at St. Charles, with interment immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners, NY.

When you remember Debbie, remember her smile that lit up every room, her too-tight hugs, and her boundless kindness. Remember her joy for life, her devotion to family, and her constant reminder to “make every day count.”

Flowers are welcome, and donations may also be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central New York in Debbie’s name.
