✨ Grief During the Holiday Season — You Are Not Alone ✨
The holiday season can be incredibly meaningful… and incredibly hard. For many people, this time of year brings memories of those we miss; especially when this is the first holiday season without them. Grief doesn’t follow a schedule, and it can show up in unexpected ways: through memories, traditions, quiet moments, or reminders of loved ones who are no longer physically present.
This year, I created a personal remembrance ornament to honor my grandfather, who I lost. Creating something tangible to remember him has offered me comfort, connection, and grounding and I wanted to share it in case it inspires you. A heartfelt thank you to my aunt for the thoughtful idea and for providing the supplies to make it possible.
💛 If you’re navigating grief right now, here are a few tools that may help:
🧠 Name the feeling. Acknowledging what you’re experiencing can reduce its intensity.
🤍 Create a ritual of remembrance. This could be an ornament, candle, journal entry, or any meaningful act that honors your loved one.
📅 Give yourself permission to experience joy and sorrow — both can coexist.
🤝 Seek connection. Reach out to someone you trust or a mental health professional for support.
🧘♀️ Grounding practices; slow breathing, noticing your surroundings, or gentle movement can help regulate overwhelming emotions.
🌿 I also want to share this meaningful poem that many have found comforting during the Christmas season of grief:

If this season feels heavy, please know you’re not alone. Grief is not something to “fix”; it’s something to be supported through. Be gentle with yourself.
With care,
