Here are 10 tips for a safer 4/20 for those who participate!

1️⃣ Ensure all cannabis/substances are safe from little hands and pets
- Up high, out of sight, out of reach
- Use a lockbox or locking bag
🚨 Prevention Network can provide free lock bags or lockboxes - Call or stop in today!

2️⃣ Be cautious with edibles
- They can look like candy or baked goods
- Make sure anybody around knows if a food or drink contains THC
- Know that edibles take longer to take effect - avoid overconsumption!
- Read labels and serving sizes carefully

3️⃣ Test unknown substances for traces of Fentanyl
- Cross contamination does happen and can be fatal!
- Use Fentanyl test strips when you're unsure
- Keep Naloxone on hand (reverses the effects of opioids)
🚨 Prevention Network can provide free Fentanyl test strips and Naloxone medication - Call or stop in today!

4️⃣ Avoid mixing substances
- Mixing with alcohol or other substances increases the chance of poisoning, injury, and impairment.

5️⃣ Never operate a vehicle while impaired
- It is not worth your life or someone else's
- Use a rideshare solution or call a friend!

6️⃣ Talk with kids and teens early
- Use age-appropriate conversations about risks, expectations, and responsible consumption for legal aged adults.

7️⃣ Keep original packaging
- Warning signs, labels, and child resistance packages reduce exposure risk!

8️⃣ Pick an appropriate time in your day
- Chill time is your time - Make sure your responsibilities are complete before relaxing.
- Errands, school pickup, groceries, work. Get it done so you can unwind in peace.
- Do not supervise children or operate a vehicle while under the influence❗

9️⃣ Know the warning signs
- Extreme drowsiness or confusion
- Vomiting
- Trouble breathing
- Panic, hallucinations, or unresponsiveness

🔟 Don't wait to get help!
- Get help immediately if you suspect poisoning
- Call Upstate Poison (free 24/7 help) at 1-800-222-1222
- Dial 911 in an emergency

Together, we can keep 4/20 safe for our community!

One conversation can change a future.

Talking to your kids about alcohol doesn’t have to be complicated or scary.

Kids who hear clear, honest messages from their parents are more likely to make safer choices later on. Start early. Keep it simple. Talk often.

It’s never too early (or too late) to talk about the dangers of alcohol and underage drinking. 💙

April is distracted driving awareness month.

Every time you drive distracted, you’re putting yourself, your passengers, and everyone else on the road at risk.

Let’s work together to keep our streets safe:

✔ Silence notifications
✔ Set your GPS before driving
✔ Pull over if you need to text

Safe driving starts with you.

March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month 🎲❌

Our kids notice more than we think...
They celebrate with us—but they also feel the weight when gambling takes the joy out of the moment.
If betting is starting to affect your mood, your family, or the way you enjoy the game, you’re not alone. Help is available, and recovery is possible. Taking the first step can make all the difference—not just for you, but for the little eyes watching and learning from everything we do. 💙

🔨 Let’s build healthier habits, stronger connections, and futures our kids can look up to.

🚨Need Support? You’re Not Alone.
👉 New York State HOPEline (1-877-8-HOPENY / text HOPENY) – 24/7 confidential help for gambling-related harms, including financial counseling and self-exclusion options. oasas.ny.gov
👉 New York Council on Problem Gambling – Statewide support services, awareness programs, and local resources. https://nyproblemgambling.org

You don’t have to navigate this alone. Reaching out today can change tomorrow—for you and for them. 💛

Your heart does more than beat. ❤️

During American Heart Month, we’re reminding our community that substance use affects more than mental health — it affects heart health, too.

👉 The good news? Healing is possible. 💕

- Quitting smoking lowers heart disease risk.
- Reducing alcohol use strengthens your heart.
- Recovery improves blood pressure, sleep, and overall wellness.

Every positive step protects your heart.

If you need support, we’re here. 💙
