It’s great hearing about biologically informed surgery and what options we have for our patients when traditional medical management and endoscopic sinus surgery isn’t quite enough for their disease. University Otolaryngology Associates Research Fellow Position
Department of Otolaryngology - SUNY Upstate Medical University

Description:
1 position available per year for medical students interested in Otolaryngology. (Students entering their 3rd year, 4th year, and those completing medical school will be considered.)

The fellow will collaborate with two primary faculty (Dr. Eve Champaloux, Laryngology and Dr. Kiranya Arnold, Head and Neck Oncology) to conduct research projects in various Otolaryngology subspecialty areas. Specific projects will depend on the fellow’s interests and goals, as well as their pre-existing research skills. Available projects include basic science, clinical, and translational projects. Throughout the year, the fellow will have the opportunity to help complete projects in progress and initiate projects depending on their skills and interests. The expectation will be multiple abstracts for presentation at national meetings and manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals. Additionally, the fellow will be expected to ingrain themselves in the culture of the department. Structured mentorship opportunities will be built into the program to develop research skills and prepare the fellow for residency in Otolaryngology.

The fellowship will run from June/July to May/June of each year (12-month position). A monthly stipend will be provided to cover living expenses, and additional funding is available for national meeting presentations and publication fees.
