Thank you to Hudson Valley Community College Department of Public Safety for inviting the Clark Burn Center to provide burn care education for first responders and healthcare professionals.
Today, Tamara Roberts, MSN, RN, CBRN, Burn Program Manager, presented “Initial Management of the Burn and/or Inhalation Injury Patient” to first responders. The session focused on the critical role first responders play in the early moments of burn care, including scene safety, decontamination, mechanism of injury, initial assessment, airway concerns, inhalation injury, hypothermia prevention, fluid resuscitation, and when to consider transfer to a burn center using American Burn Association referral guidance.
Kelly Reed, RN, CHRN, Burn Injury Prevention and Education Outreach Coordinator, also presented to healthcare professionals on burn nursing theory and the care of the burn injured patient.
Thank you to everyone who attended and for the service you provide to your communities. Your work is essential, and we appreciate your commitment to learning, preparedness, and caring for burn injured patients.
