Patient experience isn’t just about the visit itself.
It’s also about understanding what comes next.
Knowing who to call.
Feeling supported along the way.
We believe patients shouldn’t have to navigate healthcare alone. At Upstate, we help connect people to the right support so the journey feels clearer and less overwhelming.

Patient experience often starts before a patient ever walks through the door.
It starts with a phone call.
With someone trying to figure out who to contact or what comes next.
Those first moments matter. Feeling heard and supported early can make all the difference.
At Upstate, we focus on helping patients find answers and feel confident before care even begins—because trust starts there.

It’s Health Information Professionals Week, and these folks are truly the guardians of your health story.
They make sure your information is accurate, protected, and in the right place—and not in the wrong one.
They ensure that records follow you when emergencies don’t happen at home.
They keep your care connected, your data secure, and your story whole.
You may never meet them, but their work protects your privacy while making safe, coordinated care possible. These are the quiet protectors behind the scenes—and healthcare depends on them more than most people realize.
Thank you for keeping health information human. 💙

It’s National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, and if you’ve ever had a test that led to answers—or clarity—or the next right step—this week is for them.
Medical laboratory professionals are behind nearly every diagnosis, every treatment plan, and every preventive decision. Without their precision, expertise, and commitment to accuracy, modern healthcare simply wouldn’t function.
Most patients never see the lab teams working behind the scenes. But their impact touches nearly every life that walks through hospital doors.
Thank you to the professionals who safeguard health, one test, one result, one careful decision at a time. 🧬

This week is National Healthcare Volunteer Week, and it’s impossible to overstate how much our volunteers matter.
They are the ones transporting patients and families when walking isn’t an option.
Helping visitors find their way when hospitals feel overwhelming.
Delivering mail, gifts, and little moments of comfort.
Bringing therapy dogs who offer calm, connection, and healing when words fall short.
Volunteers are the arteries of the hospital experience—quietly keeping things moving, easing anxiety, and making care more human. Many of them show up day after day, not for recognition, but because helping matters to them.
This week (and every week), we are deeply grateful. ❤️

Upstate Connect is proud to stand with the pediatric care teams at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in recognizing Child Abuse Prevention Month by wearing blue.
Awareness is an important start—but protecting children also means knowing what to do when there are concerns. If you are worried about a child’s safety, including possible neglect or emotional abuse, you do not need proof to make a report.
New York State Child Abuse Hotline (24/7):
📞 1‑800‑342‑3720
Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline:
📞 Call or text 1‑800‑422‑4453
Speaking up can help keep a child safe.

Did you know?
In certain situations, such as when a patient has been the victim of a crime, extra safety measures are put in place. One of those measures is anonymity.
When a patient is protected, their name does not appear in the patient directory. If you call looking for that patient, our team cannot see whether they are here—and that is intentional for safety.
Even if someone close to the patient has shared that they are here, we still cannot see the patient or transfer calls. We encourage callers to connect with immediate family or trusted contacts who can share updates if information is available.

On Doctors’ Day, we’re grateful for the physicians who answer the call—day, night, and in the moments that matter most.
Thank you for the care, leadership, and trust you bring to your work and to the patients you serve.
Happy Doctors’ Day.

🎉 Upstate Connect won the Healthcare Call Center Times Team Culture Award! 🎉
This recognition belongs to the team — a group of people who show up for one another, work consistently and fairly, and keep the human at the center of everything they do.
Culture is built in the everyday moments, and this team lives it.

Caregiving is hard — especially the moment you arrive and realize you can’t do parking + a wheelchair + getting someone inside all at once.

If you’re bringing a loved one to University Hospital Downtown, the Cancer Center, the Nappi Institute, 550 Harrison Street, or UHCC and need help from the car to the door, call 315‑464‑5030 when you arrive. An Upstate Connect agent will take a few quick details and send an Ambassador out to your car in the front circle to help you get inside.

Because you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.
