Happy New Year!

As we begin a new year, we also begin a new cycle. It is a chance to reflect on our lives and make the necessary decisions to move forward with intention and integrity. It is my goal and intention as an acupuncturist to help my patients gain insight into their imbalances, and to work with them to unlock their potential.

In the past 10 years, no person's work has been more influential for me than Joseph Campbell's. His ideas about Creative Mythology and Personal Mythology have been particularly useful in my approach to life. Like many of us, I have a deep interest in the state of the environment and the current ecological situation. I am an acupuncturist, practicing medicine in a way that takes it cues from Taoism. The foundational ideas of Chinese Medicine are all about having a keen understanding of nature and trying to live our lives in accord with the natural world in order to achieve balance and health. Campbell talked about the possibility of a new mythology coming out of the ecological crisis. This is an article that I wrote based on Joe’s idea of humanity creating a new narrative to re-establish our vital connection to the Earth.
