2025 asked you to go inward. To shed layers that once kept you safe, to sit with discomfort long enough to see through old illusions, and to release what no longer matched who you were becoming. The energy of the Snake was never about speed — it was about truth. Slow, deliberate transformation. The kind that happens quietly, from the inside out.

2026 arrives with a different invitation. After the shedding comes movement. After the release comes direction. The Horse doesn’t ask you to stay small or cautious — it asks you to move with clarity, courage, and trust in your own momentum. This is the year where inner work turns into outward action, where sensitivity becomes strength, and where the freedom you cultivated internally finally begins to shape your external life.

This isn’t a contradiction — it’s a continuation. You couldn’t run before you shed. You couldn’t lead before you softened. The Snake prepared you. The Horse carries you forward. 🖤

A stellar ending for the year! (See what we did there?! 😏)

On December 31, 2025, the year closes with a quiet celestial farewell. As night falls, the waxing gibbous Moon drifts past the Pleiades — the ancient Seven Sisters — creating one of the most graceful and photogenic sky pairings of the year. 🌙✨

The Alignment

The Moon
Now nearly full at about 89% illumination, the Moon rises early and bathes the evening in silver light. Its broad, luminous face turns landscapes pale and reflective, like a natural lantern guiding the final hours of 2025 toward a new beginning.

The Seven Sisters
Just 7.5 degrees to the Moon’s east, the Pleiades sparkle softly within the constellation Ta**us. To the naked eye, six or seven stars shimmer like frost in the darkness, while binoculars reveal dozens more — a dense jewel box of blue-white light spread across the sky. Formed around 445 light-years away, these stars are young, brilliant, and bound by a shared cosmic origin.

A Sky Written in Myth

For thousands of years, the Pleiades have carried meaning across cultures. In Greek legend, they were sisters placed among the stars. In Japan, they are Subaru — “to unite.” In Māori tradition, Matariki marks the turning of the year. In Hindu texts, they appear as Krittika, keepers of sacred fire. Few star clusters have guided humanity so consistently through time.

How to Watch

As twilight fades, look east and let Ta**us climb steadily into the night. The Moon and Pleiades remain together until dawn, unhurried and luminous. With binoculars, the scene becomes unforgettable — lunar craters glowing beside delicate star-fire in a single frame.

Step outside on New Year’s Eve.
Let your eyes adjust.
And watch as the Moon escorts 2025 away — hand in hand with the Seven Sisters, guardians of time and memory. 🌌

Mary Olson will give a short update on the Executive Order 14300 (May 2025) that directs change in radiation standards at NRC, as well as new findings that constitute the front-end of a new radiation science required because of new understanding in disproportionate harm, including age, s*x, and internal exposure from radioactive pollution in our air, food, and water.

DISCUSSION: Diane D'Arrigo of NIRS will give a little history and open the discussion: How can we as a community USE the White House bad actions to create openings for rewriting what has been bad protection all along--and do with broad collaboration.
