Moving Into Harmony is a Physical Therapy and Hatha Yoga clinical practice that believes in the individual's capacity to harness their health is through mobility and movement. Our role is to offer solutions that align with the body's innate capacity to heal itself, and to the individual needs of each client based on their wants and desires to live their best life, because an individual’s health is uniquely within them. We offer effective movement-based solutions based in principles, not methods or exercises focused on just fixing a "problem" both clinically and online; and hands-on guidance for those in-person visits to open up avenues of greater potential that assist an individual in their healing process. The targeted programs individually developed between Shawn and his clients focus on life-long abilities and progressive ways to enhance a client's well-being as they achieve their desires.

I’ve always felt teacher was an uncomfortable word for me.

When I met Shandor & Emma many years back I understood the run inside, and over the last few years have removed teacher from my vocabulary in place of being able to guide what lives inside from repeated experience and keen awareness of how this body manages shapes of intelligence with everyday living consequences.

Through the years it’s taken me years (not a weekend) to share what’s been given. It’s the foundations that most will benefit from, not the fancy high flying acrobatics. Because in the Hatha Yoga there were few shapes that actually yoked the spiritual forces of life with body-mind consciousness as central. All the rest are preparatory work, to prepare the body-mind consciousness for receiving those forces.

Forcing this, or not having keen awareness to the dynamics of what’s happening - through most teaching stretching and doing advanced shapes without the proper dynamics - will only bring long term breakdown and shortening the life of the body as is seen in modern teachers who are declining in their health in numbers - degenerative joints and choosing or succumbing to the more arduous practices of pranayama & meditation because they can’t move well anymore thinking these are easier ways in. Not the case, as the forces travel through the body-mind consciousness and aren’t personal to the difficulties one faces, therefore trapped in the decline from choices and misguidance earlier on.

For some this presence of the forces within seems threatening or “intense” because of its quiet power. And not a power over anything or anyone. This culture does not know kind power.

It’s often fear that projects the perceived being threatened……the Gita mentions this fear…..but the fear comes from not having and unknowing of how to harness it and sustain it without harm, requiring even more awareness.

Lowering is key

The early sequences consist of a number of different squatting movements repeated many times. These movements reshape and strengthen the joints of the legs, causing the ankles to soften, removing the stress from the knees and loosening the hips. At the same time one learns how to lower and raise the energy of the body without forcing.

When the brain goes to sleep, the body does its work, and when the brain goes to sleep for a long time the body will carry it for a long time.
