✨ Emerging Eagles in Action! ✨

We’re excited to share that some of our Emerging Eagles are gaining real-world experience through their off-campus work placements at Red Door Kitchen!

From learning kitchen operations to building teamwork and communication skills, our students are thriving in this hands-on environment. A huge thank-you to Red Door Kitchen for welcoming our Eagles and helping them grow their confidence and career skills. 🦅❤️

Ms. Makayla’s class recently got into the Thanksgiving spirit with a fun math activity! 🦃
To learn the number 6, students colored a turkey with six feathers, and Santana even used real feathers to create his own amazing turkey masterpiece! 🤩🖍️🪶

We are so thankful for creative learning, smiling students, and moments like these.😃

Our students proudly participated in We Can Do It recently — a special program led by UAB students preparing to become Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists. 🩺💪

Through movement, communication, and relationship-building, our students worked hard, encouraged one another, and proved that with perseverance and support, they can do anything. 💫

Each session builds strength, confidence, and skills for life — and we are grateful for this ongoing partnership with UAB! 🧡

We CAN do it — and we DID it again!

They’re gaining real-world skills and preparing for their futures through hands-on tasks like sorting, assembling, organizing, and more. Every activity builds confidence, independence, and readiness for life beyond the classroom. 🙌💼🧩

Although it is a dangerous time of year to be a turkey around here 🦃😎—our staff and students made sure their turkeys were cleverly DISGUISED!

Mr. Keith visited our campus as the official AIDB judge, and our school votes AND Facebook votes are in.

Mrs. Jennifer’s ELA classes took a deep dive into The Story of Thanksgiving 📖🦃 and brought it to life with tactile Thanksgiving plates 🎨🍽️!

From sequencing events 🔢 to sight word practice 👀✏️ and building full sentences 📝, the students engaged their minds and their senses to show their learning.

They worked so hard 💪👏 — and now are ready for a well-deserved break, family time, and grateful hearts 🤎🧡🍂.

🥳 Turkey Toss Takeover in PE! 🦃
Coach Mallory and Coach Justin led a new game this week called Turkey Toss — and it was a hit!

Students tested their aim by tossing beanbags into hoops. Each time a beanbag landed inside the hoop… they got to keep that hoop! 👏
At the end of the game, the student with the most hoops was crowned the Turkey Toss Champion! 🏆

It was all about strategy, skill, and a whole lot of fun!
Way to go, Eagles! 💪🦅

He’s soaking up the sunshine while taking great care of our chickens — and Noah isn’t far behind in the chicken coop!
These young farmers are learning responsibility, teamwork, and a whole lot about caring for animals. ☀️🐓

✨ Emerging Eagles Take Flight at E.H. Gentry! ✨

Some of our Emerging Eagles recently attended the Deaf Services Open House at EHG — and what an incredible experience it was!

Our students:
🧠 Learned about the programs and services available for continuing education
🚶‍♂️ Took a guided tour of the campus
🤝 Met students from other schools
🍽️ Enjoyed a delicious lunch
❓ Showed off their knowledge in a fun trivia game!

We are so proud of how they represented HKS while exploring future opportunities and making new connections. Their future is bright — and it’s LIMITLESS! 💙🦅

The Board of Trustees presented the Helen Keller School (HKS) Golf Team with a Resolution at the Board meeting on November 18th in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments at the 24th Annual Special Olympics North America Golf Championship. ⛳

Tierece Wilson (left) is a current student at HKS. He competed in three rounds and won gold in his division. 🏅

George Meyer (middle) who is a 2025 HKS Graduate and a current student at E. H. Gentry Facility, placed third in his division. 🏅

The team was led to victory by Coach Mallory McGuire (right), HKS Physical Education Teacher.🌟

Classes in HKE and Horton Hall created a Turkey in Disguise to help them stay safe this Thanksgiving season — and now it’s time for YOU to pick your favorite!
