Congratulations to Southern Medical Group’s Eva Hasenhuttl on her acceptance to Florida State University’s College of Medicine, class of 2030! 🎓🩺

Eva graduated from FSU’s College of Medicine Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences program in 2023 earning a BS in Biomedical Sciences. She also worked as an MA with SMG's Drs. Mital and Forsthoefel, and is currently scribing for Dr. Dixon in interventional cardiology. 🫀

Happy PA week!

🧐Wondering how PAs differ from NPs? At the practice level, there are likely more similarities than differences between PAs and NPs. However, there are two key differences:

•PAs are educated in general medicine, which offers a comprehensive view of all aspects of medicine. NPs must choose a “population focus,” e.g., pediatric nurse practitioner or women’s health nurse practitioner.

•PAs are trained to practice medicine using a curriculum modeled on medical school education. NPs are trained in the advanced practice of nursing.

👊PAs are trusted healthcare providers. A 2023 Harris Poll found extremely high satisfaction rates among Americans who have seen a PA or have a family member who has seen a PA. The survey found that 90% view PAs as trusted healthcare providers and 91% believe that PAs are part of the solution to address the shortage of healthcare providers. Happy PA week!

Exciting news for our interventional cardiology division! Please welcome Thaer Musa, M.D., who comes to us from Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. 🎈

Dr. Musa received his Doctorate of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky and University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he finished as Chief Resident. He completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.

In addition, he completed his Structural Cardiology Fellowship at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. His certifications include the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology, and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Musa most enjoys helping his patients understand their diagnosis and building a management plan together to help them feel better. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling, cooking, and outdoor strolls.
