Impact Academy is a non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, incorporated in November 2009. We provide an environment that strengthens independence, encourages growth at all levels, and bridges the gap between educational and therapeutic services. We are so excited to be participating in the Celebration of the Hands again this year!

Our Academy classrooms used their creativity and made fun and colorful handprint artwork to be hung at the Florida State Capitol the week of February 22nd.

Today is National Puzzle Day and we want to celebrate by telling you why therapists love puzzles! Puzzles aren’t just fun—they’re powerful therapy tools! Read below to see why different types of therapists use puzzles when working at IMPACT.

Speech Therapy – Puzzles build language by encouraging kids to name, describe, ask for help, and take turns.

Occupational Therapy – Puzzles strengthens fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, focus, and problem-solving.

Physical Therapy – Puzzles motivate movement like reaching, balance, crossing midline, and body control.

ABA Therapy – Puzzle support following directions, turn-taking, problem-solving, attention, and positive reinforcement.

Kids think they’re playing—but they are really working on BIG therapy goals!

When choosing a tool to incorporate — First - check your capacity for the tool. If you don't have the capacity to follow through, choose another strategy that matches your capacity like redirecting, offering a break, or giving a calm prompt.
