This past weekend SOAHS Saturday Academy students got their hands dirty in the FAMU community garden 🌱

Students tilled the soil, planted vegetables, and learned about the importance of healthy eating and nutrition. They also explored how gardening can serve as a form of light physical activity that supports overall wellness. Experiences like this help students see how simple, everyday activities can promote healthier lifestyles and stronger communities.

Programs like the Saturday Academy give students early exposure to allied health, nursing, and other health professions while building curiosity, teamwork, and real-world awareness.

💚🧡 Happy Women’s History Month!

This month, we celebrate the women of the School of Allied Health Sciences who lead with knowledge, compassion, and purpose. As educators, mentors, researchers, and future health professionals, they continue to shape the future of healthcare and strengthen the communities they serve.

Women have long been at the heart of progress in health sciences. From the trailblazers who opened doors to the students preparing to step into the field today, their impact can be seen in every classroom, clinic, and community touched by their work.

Today and throughout the month, we honor the women whose dedication, leadership, and perseverance continue to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Black history is not just a month. It is legacy. It is resilience. It is excellence in motion.

In this reel, our students and staff share what Black History Month means to them in their own words. Some reflect on culture. Some speak on pride, growth, and opportunity. Every perspective matters.

At SOAHS, we are intentional about creating space for those voices to be heard and honored.

What does Black history mean to you?
