Let’s get messy!

Tactile sensory play is SO important for our sensory kiddos!

This child is using yogurt to “paint” the animals and then we cleaned them after in a fun bath!
Having the child help choose the animals and pick out supplies (paint brush, sponges, etc.) helps to increase engagement.

NOW OFFERING PEDIATRIC PHYSICAL THERAPY!

Signs Your Child May Benefit from Pediatric Physical Therapy:

Every child develops at their own pace, but sometimes extra support can make a big difference. Here are a few signs your child might benefit from pediatric physical therapy:

-Delays in rolling, sitting, crawling, or walking
-Frequent falls or trouble keeping balance
-Favoring one side of the body
-Difficulty keeping up with other kids during play
-Stiff or very floppy muscles
-Complaints of pain during movement

Early support can help improve strength, coordination, and confidence in movement. If you notice any of these signs, talking with your pediatrician or a pediatric physical therapist can be a great first step. 💙

Call with any questions if you are wondering if your child might benefit!

Strong hands build confident kids! 💫

Hand strength and bilateral coordination (using both hands together) are essential for everyday tasks like writing, cutting with scissors ✂️, buttoning clothes, and opening lunch containers.
In pediatric occupational therapy, we build these skills through fun, play-based activities that help kids gain independence and confidence. 💪
If your child struggles with fine motor tasks, OT can help!

😂😂
We 💗 our interns!

What we do often looks silly, “just play,” or too much fun to be “work” to an outsider but everything we do is purposeful and intentional! We must disguise hard work as FUN for the child to get buy-in and engagement!

Best job in the world! ☺️

⭐️ Activity post! ⭐️

Dance Mat!

We had so much fun with this!
This was just a fun game to the kids but we targeted so much skill here.
The children worked on sequencing, reaction time, working memory, balance, overall coordination, competition tolerance, attention, and more!
I know we’ll be using this one again soon!

⭐️ Activity post! ⭐️

Tearing construction paper is a simple but highly purposeful activity often used in pediatric occupational therapy. During this activity, the child is encouraged to rip pieces of construction paper, sometimes following lines, making shapes, or creating a collage.

🌟 Therapeutic Benefits:

💪🏼 Hand Strength and Grip Development: Tearing paper requires resistance, which helps strengthen the small muscles of the hands and fingers needed for functional tasks such as handwriting, buttoning, and using scissors.

🖐️ Bilateral Coordination: The child must use both hands together—one hand stabilizing the paper while the other pulls—supporting the development of coordinated, efficient hand use.

✍️ Fine Motor Control: Controlling the direction and size of the tear promotes refined finger movements and hand precision.

👁️ Hand–Eye Coordination: Watching the paper as it is torn helps integrate visual input with hand movements.

👂 Sensory Processing: The tactile and auditory feedback (feeling and hearing the paper tear) provides sensory input that can help with sensory awareness, regulation, and tolerance of different textures.

🧠 Motor Planning: Deciding where to start and how to tear the paper supports praxis skills, including planning and sequencing movements.

😊 Emotional Regulation and Engagement: Tearing paper can be a satisfying, stress-releasing activity that allows the child to express energy safely while remaining engaged in the therapy task.
