New Building Update! Our new home in the FSU Academic Health Center is coming along since breaking ground in 2024. Dr. Andrews, Dr. Cole and Jon Gardner took a tour of the facility today and we are slotted to move into the new building in October!
This space is a much needed upgrade for both our patients and the residency. We are so excited for what this will allow us to do in terms of patient care and resident education. Follow along for more updates!!

Fun Fact: March is Social Workers Month! We are lucky to have TWO social workers in our office, Alecia and Leah. Alecia is a member of our faculty and helps with resident wellness in addition to providing therapy services for our patients.
Leah was recently hired as part of our Street Medicine grant and we’re excited to have her on our team.
Social workers are an essential part of the healthcare system and we’re grateful to have them as part of our team!

✨Intern Spotlights✨

Mikaela Martin , MD

🏠Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica 🇯🇲

🏥 Medical School: University of the West Indies

❤️💛Why FSU at TMH: I liked how comprehensive the curriculum was and how hands on we are in all aspects of care (OB, peds, inpatient medicine). Everything the residents said spoke to me and I loved that if I chose not to do something in my practice it was because it was my decision not that I didn’t have the training.

🌳 Favorite thing about Tallahassee: the trails (loves piney Z and cascades) and the overall homey feeling

🧀 On-call snack: mozzarella sticks

🏊‍♀️ Hobbies: long evening walks, fragrance collecting (current favorite is bubble bath by Replica), swimming

🧠 Most surprising thing about intern year:
How quickly it goes, how much competence you gain and how much autonomy you have.

💅🏻 Fun Fact: I’m a certified nail technician

Dr. Del Carter and Dr. Kelly Delgado represented our program at the Florida Medical association Resident and Fellow Days at the Capitol. They met with Representative Tomkow from Polk County and multiple other legislative aides to discuss several of the healthcare-related bills this session. This is an annual event that allows residents and fellows to do a deep dive into the intricacies of the legislative process!

Thanks for representing our program well!

🌳 Favorite thing about Tallahassee: The nature and people

🏞️Perfect day off: Being outdoors with family or friends, eating good food, and having fun or sometimes just relaxing at home with my husband 😅

🎥 Hobbies: Running, hiking, and watching a good classic movie

🧠 Most surprising thing about intern year: The amount of things you could learn in short period of time.

📯Fun Fact: I played the French horn in middle and high school and a bonus I’ve only dated one person my whole life… and married him 💍
